Wow, I had no idea who Jeff Maggio was before this interview. What an impressive story as a guide, and what a smart, well informed, passionate advocate for clean water he has become. Keep it up guys!
Jeff is such an all-around regular guy. Makes you want to hang around (and fish) with him. I really liked the father-son relationship discussion. You and your son are such a great and fortunate pair. There is something special about growing up fishing with your dad. Congrats on another great show.
Great Podcast , I started traveling to Florida to fish for Tarpon , I now fish for Snook 90% of the time , theres something about big snook in the early hours on Hot Summer nights , sky full of lightening ,mosquitoes chewing your face off , love it , Run That Dog
Indeed. The good ole days are now. I need to try mullet fishing! He confirmed AT is the man, as if we needed anymore confirmation. I too am growing to appreciate the pull of the big snook. Great podcast.
😂😂I’d love to fish with this guy!!! I love busting balls and fishing!!! Why not mix the two!! Great interview and I greatly appreciate you and Nicky recording them for the rest of us!! Especially someone like me up here in North Carolina!!
Funny hearing Jeff talk about dragging live Mullet and how they get nervous when Tarpon are close... or Shark. It's a tactic we used on the Cape Fear River in NC in Aug/Sept when the Tarpon are here! We actually drag large live Mullet with a 12lb fly rod and do really well in certain spots... idling when the Mullet gets nervous. Our best day was 4 for 6 over 5 hours. We also have dragged Poggie fly patterns around the lagoons for Juvi Tarpon in Puerto Rico as well. I would rather feed a fish in clear thin water with the fly and 'see the eat'. Can't beat it. But you do what you have to do sometimes. Pain in the ass netting big Mullet though.
I'd seen Joe Maggio on a few videos and always took him for a clown. However he has great insight into fish behaviour, fishing, fishermen and politics. Well done for introducing us to a different side of him.
