There is a Ferry system to take people from Vancouver to Vancouver Island, Canada. The ride is about 90mins or so. Back in the 90s they had a little arcade section on some of the boats... you never knew what was going to be there. One trip, my brother and I were so happy to find Captain America and The Avengers there to play! So we began a game as Iron Man and Cap. Maybe midway thru the second stage, these other 2 brothers came up and watched us play. They were both younger and had no quarters. As we progressed further, the kids could see us having some difficulty (and running low on quarters). They left, and came back a few minutes later shouting! They had brought like $5 in quarters and gave a couple to my brother and I, and then they jumped in the game as Hawkeye and Vision. Thanks to the help of those little chads, the 4 of us finished the game just as the trip was ending. I'll never forget it!
*Vison* : Possesses the power to channel the sun. *Iron Man* : Uses the most sophisticated weapons known to man. *Captain America* : Super-Human soldier who uses combat training with an indestructible shield. *Hawkeye* : World's greatest marksman who uses deadly precision weaponry. *All Avengers* : Whipping Coke cans at enemies.
I love how they thought of giving Captain America and Hawkeye flying vehicles for the shoot'em-up sequences but instead of giving the vehicles lasers or something, they went: "nah, Cap's gonna throw thousands of shields really, really fast"
@@TheFloppyLlama117The jump button also shoots, so you can rapidly alternate both buttons for rapid fire. You can’t shoot as fast, but you can come close.
I remember going on a field trip as a kid. A friend and I started playing and then the rest of the class jumped in taking turns to help beat the game. That was epic.
Some of the best memories of my childhood were playing this game with my brother on Sega Genesis. We would lose lose lose, then one day we beat it. This game, as well as Wolverine and Silver Surfer for the NES, were my first taste of Marvel comics. Seeing these characters become household names in the biggest films ever made has been tremendous.
Loved the dialogue in this... Cap: You cannot escape! Whirlwind: YOU will be the one escaping! Me: o_0 Cap: Where is the laser? Ultron: Ask the POLICE! Me: ???
I always hated it when at the local arcade they set the options to have your health tick down over time just so you would have to throw more quarters in the machine

I'm trying to remember it was another arcade game like that too. But I definitely remember this one. The crazy part is while your life is ticking away due to the time getting hit makes it drop quicker. I never beat this game back in the day. But did eventually after I got MAME. Crap was hard even with that an unlimited credits. You go broke trying to beat this.
This brought tears to my eyes I played this for so many hours with my brother and alone. I miss these times oh how I wish I would’ve cherished them more thank you
this entire video has ben teamwork dream work ass kicking action my goodness it looked choregraphed so glad to see this video after years of this game being apart of my childhood
After how well received SOR4 and the Turtle's games were, we could start to see more remakes/sequels to the classics. I'd love remakes of The X-Men and Simpsons arcade games.
They had this at the local roller rink when I was a kid in the 90s. They would have all nighters and I would bring all my change to play this arcade classic all night!
DAAAAMMN! That was an ass-whoopin'!!! You perfectly massacred all of Red Skull's robots & henchvillains. The X-Men never kicked Juggernaut's ass as hard as that and you steamrolled all the rest of those fools too. 🤩
Vision is a boss. If he wanted to, he can take on the Avengers in his own, but he won’t because someone decided to build him to have a conscious and feel pain when he’s a robot.
Amazing to think these used to be the D-lister Marvel characters that nobody cared about back then. Cap was the best known, Iron Man was "that drunk guy", and the other two were less known than almost all the X-men. Now Hawkeye has his own show and Wolverine is only coming back recently, how times have changed.
I randomly thought of this game and found this video. Never saw this game when four people were playing before! Was my first introduction to the Avengers. Comic booky camp and epicness...there's also a certain earnestness about this game that is missing from a lot of Marvel's licensed games of today. As goofy as it is, Data East really did a great job. Always loved the way the music shifted from the scary boss theme to the more heroic Avengers theme when you were over halfway through the boss. The 'OK Go!' that queued it always gave me a dopamine hit, especially on my last quarter. 😄
I'm damn near 40 now(38) and I remember when this game came out at the arcade in my local Walmart at the time. I had seen superheroes before but this is what got me into Superheroes and subsequently made Ironman become my favorite superhero. He became my favorite hero because I wanted to play with a character who could fly by themselves and shoot lasers. Cap and Hawkeye couldn't fly and Vision looked weird to me, so Ironman it was! And now 32 years later and Ironman is still my favorite superhero of all time! I can still to this day remember 6year old me just amazed by this game! Every single time I would go to Walmart I immediately had to play this game like immediately lol. And when I didn't have quarters I would just look at this game when it would show just scenes from the game. My little brother(who passed away in 2017) for some odd reason just loved Hawkeye lol. Outta all the characters to like he liked Hawkeye! Lol, I'm joking Hawkeye is a cool character in my opinion but you had Vision who flies and shoots beams from his head, or Captain America who uad a cool shield that he'd throw and it would come back to him, but he liked Hawkeye! Man, I really miss those times of innocence where I just worried about how I was going to get some quarters to play this game lol. Man, it was hard enough for me trying to get quarters but when I was with my little brother and he wanted to play the game too you might as well stick a fork in it because it was done lol. I might as well had been asking my mom for a hundred dollars if it was quarters for me and my brother. Lol
Back in the 90s final fight set the standard of horizontal scrolling fighting game, then we have the 3.kingdom(also capcom), dinosaurs thing, captain commando, and the last of the greatest, dungeons and dragons 2
Thor's Busy As Eric Masterson (hoo boy!) Black Widow's On A Top Secret Mission So Secret It's X-Rated (or NC-17 Rated) And The Incredible Hulk... He's Teaching The New Warriors!
I was lucky to have this game at my local arcades in western Tennessee. My favorite arcade game of all time. Played this one more than the X-Men, Mortal Kombat,Street Fighter 2 or Simpsons. However, when the Arcades disappeared around 25 years ago, i haven't seen any of this game since
@@GenJuhru forgot about that game but with all the marvel movies, now would be the time to release a new version of this with a lot of unlockable characters
@@jamestartaglione1904 something like tmnt shredders revenge, a sequel/legacy game with the original characters and some new playable avengers, bringing back classic bosses and some new unpopular and well-known marvel villians
