nah, dude, watching in chronological order is for MCU veterans who want a new way to watch the series. as long as you keep an eye out for occasional timeline stuff (and it really does not happen very often), it's genuinely best to watch them in release order like the rest of us all did.

yeah, it irks me super bad when idiots try to insist first time watchers do the MCU in chronological order. No man, people only say that with the full knowledge of what they have already seen to put it into context. It would literally make zero sense and outright ruin so much shit watching it that way for the first time.

the "I had a date" line is still one of most favorite and badass yet bittersweet lines of the entire MCU for me. all these things are happening around Steve, new year, strange people, strange world, outliving anyone and everyone he ever knew, some potential uncertainty as to whether his sacrifice meant anything, being tricked as he wakes up for the first time coming out of the ice and basically going into go mode when he figures it out, all only to be broken and humanized because he had a date, real powerful and it cuts so deep, it's an absolutely beautiful moment.

The problem with watching in chronological order, is they still establish things in previous movies that you will miss the references for if you don't watch them in release order, whereas they took into account time jumps and explain things appropriately if you watch it in release order.

In the comics, it was called the "Cosmic Cube", which is a pretty lame name. "Tesseract" is much cooler. And it's also a real word from math - it means the four-dimensional analog of a cube. A square is two-dimensional, a cube is three-dimensional, and a tesseract is four-dimensional. (At five and higher dimensions, they don't have specific names. They just call them "hypercubes". A five-dimensional hypercube, a six-dimensional hypercube, etc. Sometimes just called a 5-cube, 6-cube, etc.)

The thing I love about Cap is he is the only hero that I can think of that his whole arc is staying the same, not changing who he is, he grows and learns of course but he kept his word. I know he has more of a sad past in the comics but with this version other then his health issues, bullying and losing his parents he didn’t have this tragic past that lead to him being a hero, he just wanted to help and do as much as he could. He felt so real to me.

The origin of Captain America is pretty loyal to the comic with a couple exceptions. 1. In the comics Bucky was a young kid who he met AFTER joining the army. 2. Captain America spent years fighting WWII, and met many super heroes and villains back int he 1940s. He even joined a team called The Invaders. They just gloss over those and only give him one villain and what seems like a few months of fighting. 3. In the comics he was discovered in the 1960s by the Avengers, and joined them. He was not a founding member. He was their first recruit, taking the place of the Hulk, who had left!

The filmmakers pulled off an interesting trick with Steve Rogers' "before and after"... Like a good magician, knowing that audiences would be looking for CGI/effects *following* the super-serum, they found a scrawny 'double' (Leander Denny) who (other than physique) looked very much like Chris Evans - making it much easier to superimpose Evans' face over Denny's in all the before scenes. While a few minor goofs did make their way through production and into the final film, they largely went unnoticed because that wasn't what audiences were expecting.

Steve Rogers has one heck of a character arc over the course of all the movies. What is brilliant about the actor's performance is that you never lose sight of the scrappy skinny kid inside no matter how much he changes. The whole USO/War Bonds part of the story is a reference to the Golden Age origins of this character. During the Golden Age, most of the artists and writers at Marvel were the sons of immigrants, and a high percentage of them were Jewish. Captain America was created for the express purpose of convincing America to join WW2 on the side of the Allies and against the Axis. After the war started, he remained propaganda and helped inspire everyone to fight harder. The comic book was very popular with the troops fighting in Europe. The original character was blatant propaganda. The war bonds part of the story was basically a nod to that. He faded out after the war ended (in an embarrassing way that Marvel had to retcon). During the Vietnam war, a lot of people are making arguments in the name of patriotism that frankly violated the spirit of American values and traditions. During this era, they did the "thawed from ice" story, so basically, WW2 era Steve Rogers woke up in the Vietnam era and wagged his finger at those supporting the war. Since then, this has been the function of the character. By his very nature, he is appealing to jingoists, so the writers use him to deliver criticisms that jingoists would not accept from anyone else. This phase of the character basically covers everything he does in the modern era after being freed from the ice. For example, the second Captain America movie is basically about the surveillance state in a post-9/11 world. During the early post-9/11 era, many Republicans argued that no one should have a problem with the government spying on us "As long as you did nothing wrong." The whole second Captain America movie is basically directed at anyone who made such arguments.

You reactions to these Marvel movies is great and your attention to detail is going to pay off as this journey continues. I can’t wait for you to see where this all goes! You’re going to be blown away. Try your best to avoid spoilers (don’t look at movie posters or do any research before the films) because there are plenty of moments best not spoiled. It’s about to get REALLY good!

I don't know if it was ever a reality, but in adventure fiction, highly dedicated spies and fanatics would have a false tooth filled with cyanide, and they'd dislodge it and crunch it in order to die and avoid interrogation. The first commercial televisions were developed and sold in Germany in 1934, by Telefunken. The resolution and lifespan of the unit wasn't very good, but this would be the basis of the Red Skull's security camera and display technology, which would be a super-advanced version. Essentially, this is scifi technology for the era.

You also may end up having to force yourself not to start watching these more regularly, cause they are addictive. Keep up the great reactions.

If it wasn't, we wouldn't care so much about them, and they wouldn't have had such a huge impact. I'm with you on the humor too. They include just the right amount to offset the serious and anxiety-inducing stuff. Looking forward to the next one!

Comic Facts from CCC Podcast: The Cosmic Cube (renamed the Tesseract for the MCU) are cube shaped containers that can control matter and energy according to the will of the sentient being who wields it. Cosmic Cubes have played a vital role in multiple Marvel Comics stories since Stan Lee and Jack Kirby first introduced readers to one back in 1966.

@@oh1hatemumm1es It is set in WW2, you're correct. I may have been unclear. I was speaking of the movie and comic run of the Marvel "Civil War" event. That's Cpt. America: Civil War in the MCU. I never liked that story, but the movie adapted the story well.

Just FYI I don't know if you know it already but the reason why Captain gave the shield to Sam is because that man told him"A good man not a perfect soldier" Bucky is a perfect soldier and Cap told Sam that he was a good man.

Nice Reaction. Looking forward to "The Avengers" and the rest of your journey. The MCU story flow goes in release order. Chronological order would show reveals & spoilers ahead of when you should be seeing them. Chronological order ruins the proper story flow - It literally makes no sense to suggest it for first time viewers.

This and Richard Donner’s “Superman” are the most comic book, comic book movies ever. Both Cap and Supes feel as though they walked right off the page. Makes me feel like a kid again when I watch either one of ‘em. Only one of them will “make you believe a man can fly” though.
@JasonRogue

Release order is the way. Chronological spoils a lot and seemingly confuses you. After you're done with the journey, I'm fairly certain Disney+ has a chronological order for the MCU. Note that there are shows such as Captain Carter, that was unfortunately cancelled, that is picked up after Captain America.
