A Brilliant Fell Race in the North East of England and hosted by the Esk Valley Fell Club - eskvalleyfellc...
On top of the moor, overlooking the Yorkshire village of Great Ayton stands the Captain Cook monument, an obelisk which was erected in 1827 in memory of the famous explorer, who was born just a few miles away but grew up in Great Ayton.
Captain Cook would have walked these moors however I’m not sure that he would ever have raced to the top and then descended as fast as he could back into the village as we did on New Years Day! 😃
