That's because only in the Island of Cephalonia you can understand and live and feel with all your senses in every part of your body and soul with all your 5 senses what does it mean "beiing in love" and what "real love is" ...That'why the wild beauty of the nature of this island wakes up and seduces all the senses and this nature has the power to turn a commo man into a poet (ok ok i'm from Cephalonia, though i trully believe it!!). Generally in Greece from the ancient years "falling in love" and "real love" used and use to be two completely different meanings and ONLY in greek lanquage there are 2 separate words for these 2 meanings... Beiing in love is called in greek ερως (eros) and according to ancient mythology Eros was an ancient winged god who used to drill with his arrow the hearts of people and so they were falling in love... On the other hand, for the word αγαπη (agapi)- though it is unknown it's etymology, the last years linquists tend to believe that this word comes from the verb "protect too much"... Indeed the word eros encompasses the meanings of passion, desperate desire, sexual pleasure, it's something like an untamed feeling, out of men's control... But αγαπη it'something deeper, that gives you peace, secure, certainty, protection, continued confirmation and acceptance... Greeks believe that if a man want to have the goods of this kind of real love (αγαπη) in his life, then he must fight every day of his life to conquer the heart of his beloved woman with a thousand real and honest simple actions (f.e. by helping in the houseworks, to help her in the raising of children to show her every day of his life that he respect her and being grateful to live with her with many simple little or bigger acts)......
Listening to him speak about "being in love" is like listening to the most beautiful melodic melancholy that I've ever been so fortunate to hear. I ♡ it...# speechless
My absolute favorite of all time. Such good advice. I believe you never really know someone unless you have lived with them for a year or more. In the first year they are usually on their best behavior. :) 👍
I've been asked to say this at a friend's wedding. Thanks for providing me with Hurt's spin on it for reference (all the same, I'll probably not put on the accent).
My favorite quote on love. The real quote from the book is better because it says the best part: that love is the roots of two trees growing underground to become one tree, not two.
So beautiful scene!!! This movie is for Oscar!!!! Oscar for a best movie, for a best performance (Nicolas Cage) best photography, best music, best cistums!!!!!!! 💗 💗 💗 💗
