What is this? Who are you? This is incredible. The quality of the interiors combined with the retro looking lobby... I'm speechless. I would consider paying money for more, for example the Sovereign bridge and engineering. Just awesome. This is quality.
I wish you could understand the sheer level of emotion that the detail and beauty of this creation has pulled out of me. This is the Star Trek that is in my heart. You nailed it. The lighting is so beautifully done.
MY. GOD. your camera movements and render style is so real, so real, so fuckign real i'm completely suspending disbelief in spots and just living this as if it was filmed in a movie. omg so good.
Here on 03/28/2021 and it shows up again in my suggestions like an old friend. Best rendering thus far and is still holding up beautifully. Hyper realistic is the best way to coin this.
The engineering section from the 2009 Star Trek was a brewery, its worth bearing in mind that the ship from the reboot movies is supposed to predate this ship by nearly 100 years so it should look much more refined that any ship from that era.
It' like the days of Cochrane sticking stuff with tape to the Phoenix are over by the supposed time of the shitverse. I mean the modified Titan II looks like a marvel of design next to JJprise. The reason for the brewery fiasco is the cheap look that JJ stands for (and likes?) and the diminished cost, for no one had to design an engineering set and build it. Trek was a haven for excellence in SF since TNG, in terms of prop and set design as well as storytelling. JJVerse cannot be appreciated politely ...
Several elements of this piece is far better than those in the movies. Excellent job, especially when you consider it was imagined and crafted by a single person in their spare time and not an army of paid contracted staff.
this is an absolutely fascinating addition o the Star Trek lore as part of the perks of a Star Fleet Captain, his own, for lack of a better word, Yacht.
Even most cats with Vray and Redshift, can't make it look this good. Not the tool but the hardware aka brain aka skills. 10 years later, still awesome.
Exactly, which for myself, this tells me I'm still not using Lightwave's full render potential. I must first become better at it, and once I've achieved this type of realism, then consider another rendering option like Octane, etc.
@colorado121 True, although I personally prefer the look LW gives. It's like a camera, and this is the "camera" I prefer. I also use Arnold renderer in 3dsmax, and for spacey animations I like the results I get with LW, but Arnold can make some incredible stuff. I have posted in my channel a render comparison of two models, and the results aren't that dissimilar.
What makes this work so impressive is the love for the little details, that makes this rendering so realistic: Natural lens flares and the little flaws in the picture, that are usual for analog film (spots, that appear only for one frame).
I didn't realize I was watching CGI...it's THAT good. You've just shown us all that with the tools and the talent, we can explore aspects of the Star Trek universe that they never could on TV, and it can look just as good if not BETTER.
I love how we an see the back of the saucer and nacelles out the window of the conference lounge. It always bugged me in the show and movies that we never really saw parts of the ship out the window. Great video!
This is incredible! I was just remarking at how someone involved in the series must have had a fantastic camera and alot of spare time when I read down into the comments. I'm floored by this.
Its really a perfect CGI recreation, the glass reflections, the lens refractions, the amazing detail and all these casual things like glasses of water on the table, its looking so damn real, congratulations! never saw anything like this, even TV CGI never looked that real!
The transitions, the rack focus, the grain... wow...In my head I kept thinking "wasn't this CG?? I remember this being CG... but ...this looks like the set!"
I've always thought a 3D model allowing you to freely walk around the Enterprise D would be a great thing (best with crew interaction, like in an RGP for example) and this comes closer to that than anything else. How much do we need to pay you in order to create such a model? :-)
You left me speechless and in tears. I cant find the words to describe how absolutely amazing this short video glimpse actually is! Thank you so much! ^_^
