The moment that single-handedly killed Sm4sh’s competitive scene. I’m glad that these two children got their mild jollies, but I doubt Sm4sh or even Smash Ultimate will even have a platform at Evo, the biggest fighting game tourney, thanks to these two.
@@holylarcenist9596 Yeah because Zack and Lima are actually losers who are arrogant! If REAL Bayo mains were there they would've had this match over in no time!! But these two gave Bayo mains their HORRIBLE reputation!
Watching it live it really wasn't imo. Almost every game was just a wash, Id rather watch nail biting matches not someone train through another. Only highlights of the top 8 was go1s defense in his sonic fox games and that goku black comeback knowkami did. Grand finals could have been great but yeah sonic iced go1 to win.
This is a reason why people hate bayo and bayo players. Players were distraught and would’ve killed to be in that position and they took it as a friendly.
Roberto Lopez I blame the people who hate on them because they want to win a tournament, they dislike the character, they boo the people who play that character, so they got mad, and refused to play. I mean rip smash 4 at Evo, but this isn't their fault alone, there's a reason as to why they did this.
Roberto Lopez Bayo hate has existed for a long time and what happened at EVO is just being used to “justify” it. I mean, people wouldn’t be taking this out of proportion if it was two jigglypuff charging rollout
I feel bad for the spectators tbh. Spending over hundreds of dollars for EVO, just to watch 2 teenagers mess around in grand finals. I personally don't mind cause I asleep during that grand finals lol but uh GGs??
CoreTheG I mean the crowd started booing them as soon as they got on stage. So yeah, they may have spend a lot of money getting there, but so did the players. If you're gonna boo then for trying to win, then I don't see a reason for them not to do this, they earned their spots, they beat the best. But yeah, rip smash 4 at Evo.
Bayo needs to be banned. This character has actually started a civil war in the fgc and has potentially stopped all smash games from being at evo next year including melee. Congrats to Lima and Zac for potentially killing smash's future buinessness oppertunities in just 2 minutes.
NixUniverse im not makin this up dood. Bayo has split the smash community up like the red sea. Its either 1 extreme or other. You either a really salty bayo hater and want her banned (which im part of ngl) or you like/don't mind her being in the game and tell you to learn the match up. The booing and death threats was stupid but this is all because of one character as well as the toxic community.
And hbox spoke to the head of evo and theres a big chance dat melee may not be in evo next year. The smash community and the head of evo dont get along anyway but this contriversal incident as well as the community may have put the nail in the coffin
While I can’t say this was a good move by the two players, I definitely don’t blame them for it. The people hating on these guys in the comments needa learn some empathy. These guys receive hate speech and death threats on the daily, simply because of their character and play style. The crowd took every single moment to boo and shun them during grands. These people are arguably in actual danger. At this point, the smash 4 fan base has lost sight of what it really is: a game, and nothing more. It’s not bigger than life. Lima and Zack had finally had enough shit from the toxic smash 4 community and decided to show that they didn’t give a shit. Nobody realizes that they aren’t just having fun, they’re making a statement that, if the smash 4 community chooses to be shit to them, they can be shit to the community. The golden rule always applies. If any of you were up there getting booed, you’d want to do this as well. Whether you’d have enough guts to is a different story. The only reason this is as big a deal as it is is because of how large a stage it was played on. Since both players earned their way into grands, they technically can play however they want to. As much as I love smash 4 and wish for it to remain at EVO, and as much as I hate bayo and think she should be banned, this one is on the toxic community. Including the majority of this comments section.
You encompass my thoughts entirely.Competitive Smash community is trash, and that's why im not apart of it lmao. Saying 2 kids killed a popular game is stupid entirely. Saying they had no reason to act the way they did is also reterted
I’m gonna be honest: It doesn’t matter how bad the community was, these two players were at EVO grand finals. You don’t do this shit at the grand finals of EVO.
Well the thing is these same guys mocked those they beat and Zack did the Bayo pose to show how arrogant he is and I found out that's the real reason people who booing the both of them! In other words it's their personalities as to why they got booed! Even other Bayo mains were booing them I heard! So in other words these guys ruined the reputation of Bayo mains forever which is unfortunate!
That wouldn't solve anything cause the community would just complain to a diffrent character. At least ultimate has nerf bayonetta but if people feel like a character is like bayonetta in smash 4 we will just repeat this situation again
BoRyonto The Leader not necessarily (though even if you can adapt it doesn't guarantee that you will win) I'm just saying we shouldn't be mad bayonetta mains it's not their fault that their main is op. I am more mad how this is smash bros 4 last evo and it ended with dissapointment.
She's pretty cool. And she set a new bar for how mature a character can be while still being added to Smash. As for tournaments and all that, I don't really have any input.
After the announcement of Ultimate, pretty much everyone figured the writing was on the wall for Smash 4, as is typical when a new version of a fighting game comes out. So I was hoping that this year would be would be a decent swan song for Smash 4 at EVO. That...did not happen, to say the least. Very disappointing tournament. And this moment was the cherry on the sundae. But I'm positive that Ultimate will appear next year. Not sure about Melee, but that's a different discussion. Lastly, for everyone saying that Bayo should be banned and removed from Ultimate or whatever: relax. I'm certain that Ultimate will beat her with the nerf bat. And I personally find it a shame, because I was one of the people who wanted her in the game and voted for her in the smash poll. I liked her games and her as a character, so to see comment after comment on various Smash 4 video wanting her removed or banned...it sucks. Then again, I'm certain that soon after Ultimate comes out, the community will then decry about a different character that will need to be nerfed, and the cycle will continue.
BrownieKuma72 How come 2 Sonic players can stall a match at a super major by just spin dashing around Smashville in front of thousands of people with nobody batting an eye, but when 2 Bayonettas stall, it kills Smash 4? If you're going with that logic, then Smash 4 died when custom moves were still tournament standard.
Hopefully both of them are banned from EVO and future Smash tournaments Not only for disrespecting the audience's time, the tournament's prestige, nintendo's brand and trust into the Smash community. But for tarnishing the aspect of competition in gaming. Any defense for their actions are rooted in selfishness and misguided sympathy.
You act like stuff like this hasn't been done at EVO before. Don't try to talk about disrespect like you know how eSports works when the FGC and the Smash community can be the grimiest and unprofessional groups in gaming history
I completely agree, if smash is ever gonna be taken seriously than this behavior can't be tolerated. Pops offs and stuff in pools is one thing but acting like this in grand finals is unacceptable.
protolan han no, don't ban bayo, she is no where near ban needed, the reason people are being such cry babies over this is cause the character wins the way they don't want them to win. This isn't no brawl meta knight. Don't get mad just because people want to win, and they're going to use a good character to do that. In brawl every tier was based on how good they fought meta knight, in 4 it's actually based on overall, not just Bayonetta. Yes, rip smash 4 at Evo, but people are being too touchy to ban stuff they don't like. I may be in a minority, but the community pushed them to act like this. Should they have done that? No. Did they? Yes? Is it entirely their fault? No. This is something to learn from.
So plasma, I wanna know what you thought about these grand finals do you think they shouldn't have messed around, or that them messing around was fine? I personally don't have a problem with something like this, but id like to know what you think
I thought that the finals were decently entertaining, maybe they messed around a little too much but people took it too seriously, plus Zack and Lima apologized on twitter so its cool
99% of the people who say that this is insulting wouldn't say this if it weren't a Bayo ditto. Let's say that ESAM & Captain L made it to GF and that they decided to use Pika's side special. If this happened almost no one would be complaining. This community is just toxic AF and at the end of the day we talk about kids that get death threats. I definitely support what they did. BTW no I'm not a Bayo main because I'm not ready to spend money on the DLC.
I personally think that the smash 4 community is taking this too seriously. Sure, what they did was silly, but the fact that the community acting like this is the apocolypse is the main problem. There were 2 things that came out of it, one being that the grand finals was unique and hasn't been done before on the big stage. The other being that it's a stance that the smash shouldn't be so toxic towards their own members or take the game so seriously because it's kind of bad tbh. Look at the melee community! We are ultra toxic, but we don't take anything seriously. Mango threw his medal out to the crowd 2 years ago which was unproffessional, we have a melee hell page, we bash all the other games, but you know what, none of us takes it to heart or acts like anything is too big of a deal, we just joke about it and move on. The reason why smash 4 community being serious is a bad thing is because it alienates people trying to have a good time. If everyone had a laugh at the grand finals and memed bayo more rather then acting like what they did was an atrocity, the smash 4 community would have an easier time moving on.
While Lima and Zach did an awful thing for Sm4sh, we cannot pretend that they are alone in the blame. There exists an *incredibly* toxic community that sends people death threats and constant hate *for picking a fucking character in a video game.* The blame goes to both sides.
Yall are overreacting. This isnt gonna kill smash 4. You guys' acceptance of hatred for bayo and bayo players is what will kill smash 4. Dont get it twisted. Sure bayo messes with the community, but the communitys response will be its own downfall for sure.
Hardly any major tourneys left. Most top players from previous pgrs dont care anymore. We have ultimate ect ect. I agree the community hasn't help much tho. Even me typing this comment dosent help
Z Alverez Yeah but part of the reason so many people quit is cause of bayo hate alone. Im not saying smash 4 is gonna live long but the idea that bayo players are the sole reason its gonna die so brutally when ultimate comes out is completely incorrect
Pajama Zam yeah. I hope everybody can just grow up and tolerate one another when Ultimate comes out. Both players apologized and faced backlash. No need for us to continuously bash them.
Too bad those two toxic idiots got too many white knights who says "This was good that they did this" and I'm like "No these guys were rude to the people they beat and that's why they got booed! Not just because of who they played but how bad they are as people!"
Everyone getting salty about how 2 teenagers (because apparently that’s an important detail) decided to have fun with the last match of the tournament. This standoff was more entertaining than if it was just 2 Bayos playing through 8 games. Watching any Bayo ditto is boring. At least this made it stand out. And to all the people who think what they did was disrespectful to the “nature of the prestigious and sacred Evo ritual”, it’s still a game. Who really cares? You aren’t forced to watch any of it. Watch another set. Watch another tournament. If you were actually there, leave the crowd and play a friendly. There are very simple solutions. I’ve seen people say that people would have killed to play Grand Finals at Evo. And that the Grand Finals we got was disrespectful to them. Well then I guess those players shouldn’t have gotten eliminated. It’s a weird thing the way competition works. People expect Zack and Lima to take these Grand Finals super seriously when the balance of this game is a joke. To people thinking this is killing Smash 4, it isn’t. The release of Bayo did that by itself. Nerfing Bayonetta wasn’t enough to rebalance the metagame after it was so heavily skewed towards her. And if she isn’t the one that killed it, Smash Ultimate is. How many of you actually plan on sticking with Smash 4 after Ultimate comes out?
While bayo is definitely the top character, I think what is really killing smash 4 is the community. Sure, they have some good reason for hating bayo, but they still acted way too harshly at people who used her, which is what ended up causing how this grand final played out.
I agree that my comment is not constructive, so here's my two cents. For sure, Zach and Lima's behavior was childish and undeserving of EVO. However I also think people are overreacting to this. Smash 4 likely won't be at the next EVO due to Ultimate's release, but I can see people are already scapegoating this moment as the thing that caused that, which is an overreaction to say the least.
There was an incident with Killer Instinct where teabagging and taunting was banned because and argument escalated into death threats A fight has broken out at an MvC3 tournament because someone watching was talking about the person who lost Smash 4 definitely isn't the only game to have stuff like this
why are people hating on spectators in this comment section... wouldnt you be mad if you went to a NBA match and the teams just sit down in the court doing nothing?
Man, two bayos held neutral B for less than 2 minutes, were told to stop and play, and then did. Such disrespect. Let’s make a huge deal out of it and “kill the sm4sh competitive scene”
to be fair the crowd was booing the bayonetta players because everyone said bayo was cheap. so it was a giant fuck off to the crowd, which honestly... i can respect that xD
