I took Squig outside to eat and the wild hyrax on my roof were very curious. This is an incredible video, considering the behavior of the wild hyrax this year. They are so stand-offish nowadays. These ones really wanted to get close and had no fear.
I am sort of guessing that one of the little ones on the roof here is one of the other ones I rescued. He constantly begged to leave the house. Crying a lot. And very unsure about me.
His name was "Lenny" and unlike Squiggy, was not at all content. I finally let him go when I knew he could eat some amount of solid food on his own, because I was unsure if he would find a willing mother to breastfeed him. I don't think he made it, in the long run. So few have in recently years. But I am sure he thrived for some months after he left. Squiggy was pretty happy to stay inside all the time, she mostly would just run back into the house when I would let her out.
