Learn how to build a portable dust extractor and safety shield to extract all the dust from your drill press that works against or away from the fence. It can even be used with super-wide boards, or on the workbench with a portable drill. This also acts as a safety guard to keep your fingers and clothing away from the spinning bit!

Just a thought. If these are 3D printed, would it be easier to add brush strips so they can go around the drill bit and not plexiglass?

Man wish I’d seen this a month ago. I am in process of learning how to make wooden knobs. My tool selection is limited so I have to improvise. I have been studying the dust/chip issue and this is perfect. Thx and I’ll look for plans but I should be able to configure.

I like this because it also let you use it with a fence. My Woodpeckers drill press table is on back order, but once it get here I'll be making one of these with a couple of mods. Nice job!

Thanks! I've seen some other designs, but they all relied on or is attached to the fence. I wanted something that was completely independent of the fence. Also, this allows it to be used with a handheld drill on the workbench. Thanks for watching!

Very nice project! The only potential issue I could see is that your drill press looked pretty close to bottoming out on the top of the box, potentially not being able to use the full capacity of the drill bit. Have you had any issues with that so far? - Joe

On my drill, the laser assembly is what causes the issue. I never use that. I may remove it then I would have a lot more clearance. Also, my drill only has a 2" max throw.

Spending time making shop gadgets is fun by itself but when they can save you time so you can focus on building other stuff it is a win/win. That is what this product has done for me, less time cleaning up means more production in the shop.
