It's always a good idea to move the swarm a good distance from the place of capture, that way they will not return to it. My rule of thumb is a little less than yours, I move them at least 3 miles from the capture place. I hope you get a lot of honey and wax this year as well. Thanks for watching. God's peace Marcel. It was a swarm, and swarms are bees that are not as established hive. Often, swarms that happen later in the year have more than 1 queen in them as multiple queens hatch from swarm cells. There can only bee one! Except in after swarms, it is VERY common to have multiple queens in swarms the later in the swarm season it gets. Once I found 4 of them. I would have to say your method is a very good one, there's no way she's coming out of of the box with that in front of it. I have found it best when dealing with a new swarm, lock the queen up for 3 days and let the workers get things sorted out making things ready for her. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
