This was a spectacular hive and I was so happy to be able to share the experience with my viewers. Thank you for taking the time to watch it and leave your comment. Until the next one, God's peace Dyana. Mr. Ed
Awesome episode! What a beautiful colony of bee. Amazing that they made it through the winter and still had honey resources. Just amazing natural phenomena!!!
You are very welcome, and thanks for watching as well. Also, I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace. Mr. Ed
AaaaaMAZzzzzing! Btw. That swarm we had moved into empty stacked boxes. I went in it and found the queen! and relocated all her brood and her into a new box. They are doing great! Gonna be movin them to our land this weekend. I LOVE bee wranglin! Blessings always!
This is the first time I’ve seen an external hive. Very emotional viewing today. The bees created a 😅work of art. You are so fortunate doing the job you love and so are we to be able to watch the process of re-homing. Little glimpses of heaven.
My Grandfather would have loved to be there with you. Him and I were bee chasers in Vermont. We found lots of queens and honey ! If I could be 10yrs old again 😊 I just love your shows ❤️
What a great title for a job, "bee chaser," and the images it congers up in my mind, so cool. Great story, thanks for sharing it and for watching. WOW you got there in time to get them before they left the hive. Good Job.I can not wait to see more about this Hive & how it is doing. Please keep us up to date about it. Thank you.that was a really beautiful outside hive.
A real beauty for sure and testimony to the presence of God in our world. I plan on making a follow up video on these girls in a few months for sure. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Mr Ed, that was one cool open aired colony. I’ve only seen 1 in my lifetime and my job was framing the comb and just like Larry the cable guy “I getter done”.
Well done men very professional, as many swarm cells as there were, i wonder if the queen may have left with a swarm earlier, never have seen an open air hive like that, thanks for sharing..................
The is the possibility of the queen already leaving, and since we did not see her, I put a few cells in the hive to cover any doubts. Either way, I am going to be queen right. That was some big hive! It is wonderful that you had a lift to assist you and it seems like these bees are pretty friendly! I hope they enjoy the Langstroth hive box. I know if I ever had bees, that is what I would use! 😊

Good Morning Mr.Ed, My wife and I woke up to your video ! What a sweet surprise this was. We just finished watching this Amazing video! With some breakfast we loved it! We had our belly laughs with the thing rolling in with its loud 🤣 noise! I bet this one goes viral or a "Bee Classic"

I loved being able to see from start to finish. From capture to placement. I watched the entire video. Thank you for taking to time to edit and share this experience.
Very happy to hear you watched the entire video. We worked 8 hours removing and relocating the hive and I worked an additional 4 hours of editing to make it all happen, and you know what, it was all worth it when I hear someone watched the entire video. Thank you for doing that. God's peace Leland. Mr. Ed
You are very welcome, this was an awesome hive and I'm delighted to have it here at the abbey in the Layen's hive. Thanks for watching. God's peace Jimmy. Mr. Ed
That was truly incredible! The one I cut out of the Chinaberry tree 2-3 years ago was 1/5 that size but your removal brought back the memories of that day in October. Vacuumed the majority of the bees from up in the lift, and then cut the branch off and removed the comb from it and framed them on the ground. Put my bee vac in the Layens just like you did. God Bless guys! Great video!
To bad you missed this one. Nest time you visit you are coming wrangling with us. Thank you for your blessings and for all the support you give me and the abbey. God's peace Russ. Mr. Ed
Unbelievable!! That was the most amazing external tree hive I've seen! Even though you didn't find the queen you have plenty of emergency cells to take over the hive. Is that the most bee's you had to wrangle up? Second, if the bee vac gets full do you have another one to get the rest of them? Thank you for sharing Mr Ed and Good Time Charlie. God Bless you both!!!!
It is not the most bees I've wrangled, but the highest hive I've ever wrangled. Yes, I always bring 2 vac bodies with me just for that case. Next weeks, video will actually show us doing that. Thank you for your blessings and for watching. God's peace Phil. Mr. Ed

Hey Lisa! What a beautiful hive this one was. I almost felt bad because I had to remove it, but by summer time this hive would have fallen to pieces due to the heat and weight, so in the end it was a good thing to do for the girls. Plus, I really like the genetics of these bees. God's peace. Mr. Ed
This was a really cool removal, and I was so excited to do it because I just don't come across external hives very often. I totally agree, God is good! Thanks for watching. God's peace Karen. Mr. Ed
If I ever get back to Louisiana I would love to look the two of you up. I have a love for bees. I understand our relationship with our pollinators.Thank you for all your efforts in Bee keeping and Bee rescue. The future of our pollinators is under attack because of Africanized bees. As a Wildland Firefighter it's been my fear that I may run into one of their nests. I live in Apple Valley California. Thank you for your videos.
If you ever do come back, please make the effort to get in touch. Who knows, you may even get to go wrangling with us. Thanks so much for following along with our bee wrangling adventures. God's peace Cynthea. Mr. Ed
Good morning my friends in lower America. I just came in from the greenhouse at 5am it is a nice warm 20f here this morning. That hive of bees looks like has been there for some time. I never liked to work off from a man lift. Very good video god bless all of you.
Thank you, and Happy Easter to you and yours as well Dan. It is very common to have these hives last a year or two, but once they get to large, they self destruct from the outdoor conditions and weight. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Very nice. I'm so glad to see you orienting the comb properly; however, putting the comb in the cooler upside-down is likely to kill the developing queen cells- or so I've been told, (I do so many Africanized cut-outs that are simply exterminations, *sigh). Nice technique bringing the small foundation as a pattern for you comb. Interesting choice of a Layans hive to place them in. God bless you too!
The good news is the queens in the cells were fine as they were used to re queen 4 other hives and those hives are now queen right. So glad I don't have Africanized bees to deal with here in Louisiana. Thank you for your blessings and for taking the time to watch the video, it is greatly appreciated. I love my Layens hives. I have a blown shoulder and lifting heavy objects is incredibly painful. The Layens setup allows me to keep bees without worrying about lifting heavy supers.

@@JeffHorchoff I regularly watch your videos… and I’m jealous of your extended season and space you have to follow the passion. I’m limited to the half acre my house sits on (and I have between 1 to 4 colonies). A friend with 70 forrested acres has graciously offered to let me put hives out at their place this year. And I fully I plan on taking them up on that.
I love watching your videos and I must say this is the first time that I’ve seen you not catch the queen. I know she’s in there somewhere. They were too peaceful for her not to be there.
I would have to say I locate the queen about 90% of the time, and when I don't actually see her, she is in the bee vac.....like she was on this one. Thanks for watching. God's peace Maria. Mr. Ed
I already have plans for doing a follow up on this hive right after the honey harvest. That way it will have given them plenty of time to build up again. Stay tuned. I love the idea of using templates to cut the comb. I suppose you'll just have to be very careful with manipulating these frames since they have no wire support.
Once they get them secured on the frames, since there are 4 sides for support, it should be alright...at least I'm hoping. Thanks for watching. God's peace Joe. Mr. Ed

There's a joke here somewhere.....Two beekeepers and a rodeo clown walk in a bar...... 🤣 What an amazing open air hive!!! So obviously rain and cold doesn't hurt bees?? That kind of defies "beekeeper logic" doesn't it?? Really enjoyed this one!!! Thanks Jeff and Charlie!!!
You are absolutely correct, but I'm still waiting for the punch line. Glad you enjoyed the video Keith, thanks for watching. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Honeybees, in a way, have a kind of "built-in heat system" for themselves (IIRC, anyways...) I remember hearing about it in a video where several of 'em basically gave a Hornet a fatal heat stroke by basically dogpiling the guy and cranking the heat to 11. Imagine being microwaved by honeybees... 🎛

Was thinking about you today, that I hadn't seen you in awhile. Missed connections probably, but presto, there you are. Impressive, massive open aire colony. Think I saw the queen about the 3rd from the last comb you put in the cooler. (Didn't rewind to check). Interesting to see the trees are green in March. We'll see a tinge of green on the early stuff mid-April-ish. But leaves wont fully unfurl until mid-May. Even then, Locust wont come out till the 2nd week of June. I so desire to move down there. Warm weather, and catching bees, what could be sweeter than that? Thanks for sharing, Jeff... Until the next one!
Hey David and thanks for keeping me in mind. Just wanted to let you know, I post a new video every Friday so if you are not being notified, you may have to resubscribe to my channel. It is very common for RU-vid to drop subscriptions and this is what may have happened. Still, there is no other place I'd live. Thanks for watching. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
Yall were braver than me! If it had been me, Id have gotten back in the van! I just dont do heights!! I even have trouble in very tall buildings. I dont go near any windows in skyscrapers, I dont want to see the ground!
...One country boy exclaimed to a rodeo clown,"I'll be John Brown" looking at a huge bee hive, the rodeo clown turned in amazement and said, "me, too"!

This looked like a beautiful natural colony surviving just fine on its own. I've removed many colonies in danger of extermination in structures where they interact with humans. In this case, I would like to know if leaving the colony alone would have been an option and maybe even better for the bees and the environment.
It is always the homeowners choice weather to remove a colony of bees from their property or leave them stay, and in this case, the owners had concerns for their cattle having the bees in the field and wanted the hive relocated. Also, in cases with open air colonies that are as large as this one was, they self destruct over time. Due to the weight of the comb and the exposer to the heat of summer, they break apart and wind up on the ground. I enjoy watching you putting the comb on the frames after the removal job. I like Joey's rubber band method. seems so much more effecient. I realize you can't do that with this type of hive. Good enjoyable vid. Thanks.
I have to say, the method I use to put the comb in the frames is the best way I have use so far, simple and fast...and the bees seem to like it as well. You will be seeing a bit more of that method in the next few videos. Thanks for watching. God's peace Ellen. Mr. Ed
