It’s not the size of TON-618 (although it is very big and within the event horizon alone you could fit 11 solar systems side by side and is probably even larger now) but it’s the disk of superheated matter spinning around the black hole that makes it visible, scientists think that it shines 140 trillion times as bright as the sun. To those who were confused: When the Black hole had formed it was 10.3 billion ly ( Light Years) away from us but as time went on and the earth evolved life were being created, the universe had also been expanding fast, faster than the speed of light itself. For those who are confused it is currently 18.2 billion light years away but the light from it has taken 10.37 billion years to reach us which means we are seeing it as where it was 10.37 billion years ago... Some of you are confused because the universe is expanding faster than the speed of light. It is because the fabric of space time is expanding not matter. The Hubble's constant is 73 km/s per megaparsec and if something is 2 megaparsecs away then its receding twice the speed. Yeah, sorry for everyone who believes those claims, but this is fake. The reality is, even with a decent professional telescope, you're not going to catch a glimpse of TON 618 or its galaxy. For those who are confused, The age of Observable universe is roughly 13.8 billion years but Universe is expanding faster than the speed of light. So, The image taken for this video, the light of that image is roughly 10.3 billions of years old because at that time, it was only 10.3 billion years. Now it is going far with the expansion of universe that's why the estimated distance is 18 billion light years.

For scale, consider that Voyager 1, the fastest spacecraft, would take 317 TRILLION years to reach a black hole 18 billion light-years away. However, this overlooks the universe’s accelerating expansion, where more distant objects recede faster. Objects beyond the cosmic horizon (around 14 billion light-years away) are receeding faster than the speed of light. While matter is limited to light speed, space itself can expand without limit. So nothing-not even light-can catch up to these distant objects.

This was an astronomical achievement, and the one and only time it has been done. The project was “EHT collaboration”. And it costed roughly sixteen million dollars. If it were to be done again but with the most massive of black holes discovered before it would be seen as monumental, and you would be able to find a definitive answer easily if it had been done or not. This is not the case. There are 3 types of mounts in astrophotohraphy: equatorial, dobsonian and azimuth (whatever you spell it, for short it is az) The eq. mount rotates using polar alignment (so rotates along with the stars) The dobsonian is like a disc on the ground that rotates the telescope (i dont know much about them) And the az mount is the worst az it only moves up and down so if you are taking hundreds of exposures it will have rotational differences. The equatorial mount is used in this video. It is either manual (requires polar alignment, uses a polar finder to align with Polaris as it is the northern celestial star) or go-to which are motorized and more accurate but still require polar finder. Both have counterweights that are adjusted to move as much as possible with the sky. If you have made it this far congrats, and one more thing: those mounts are expensive as hell and are the most important parts.
