I was born in 1960 and remember this when I was a little child. Obviously reruns in the later part of the 60's. I'm in Australia and we didn't get TV until 1959 here but I was certainly brought up on a lot of TV and love going back on all the old b/w shows of the day.
By the way looking at officer Muldoon's eyes he looks very sensitive, very handsome look on him. I keep thinking his eyes might be blue. I think he was much better in this TV show than on the Munsters. I'm Maureen Stapleton man she's sharp she's believable with these one-liners. She was very very good in this episode.. All these one line or two liners is so funny. I have to say I work at a halal stand in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn I have to say you can most of the time tell gypsies when they roll up to the stand in their Bentleys and rolls-royces and Mercedes. I also have to say they have this fast and smart way of talking they almost can pre guess what you're going to say. Their skin complexion is much more different than the Middle Eastern folks who come up and get their mostly beef beef on their lamb gyros and platters. Oh almost forgot the flashy jewelry they're wearing around their neck or on their fingers. I hadn't see Middle Eastern guys have any jewelry on them. Gypsies do standout we will have stereotypes that are hard to break. Thanks again for these RU-vid channel producers for loading up these programs for us to enjoy thank you thank you thank you
I just realized Toody (Joe Ross) is also Jerry Mathers. Just take a closer look. Even at different ages they are the same. So was Ringo Starr and Yessir Arafat the same person. There's really only 17 people in the world when you pair everyone.
The part where Toody tries to get back Lucille was hilarious! Especially the part where he tries to explain the mushrooms in his pocket. ("You know how things start to sprout!")
You are right the captain got these great expressions. by the way they all have great facial expressions and they show up so great on these Black and White shows. I never saw such a crisp clear B&W television program not even The Addams family had sharp video on RU-vid
@@georgeplagianos6487 another episode that was great was Toody taking care of Captain Block’s parrot!!! Hysterical, Toody at his best. The episode was “I hate Captain Block”
Wow this script is so well-written so funny so stereotypical of an ethnic group. You'd think it was written by Mel Brooks. He seems like the master of that type of writing. I wonder if Mel ever saw this episode?. He would probably think it was written by him he's so up in age maybe it's not as sharp.. it probably saved himself it was glad he made these shows before the PC censors castrated comedy.
He was the cave man and Emma Jean Coca was a cave woman. 2 astronauts go back in the and live with cave people, when they go back to the present the cave people come back with them. It was a Sherwood Schwartz production before Gilligan's Island, it used the same music during the show that Gilligan's Island used.
Such a great episode. I wonder what kind of politically correct "_ism" charge would be hurled at this episode if it were on TV today. So far as I know, gypsies are not considered a Democrat voting bloc, so they might not get the same "kid glove" treatment as other groups.
20 years ago i thought tv was so mindless that it was no longer funny they would even laugh for us, in fact as i watched i realized the pats they laughed at were not funny, they were telling us when to laugh . i felt like they were telling us to laugh. i was insulted
