Hi Pete, You're a star mate! I've taken the plunge and bought a cameo 4. It's great and your video has helped me confirm some of the stuff I've learned, plus I didn't know about the eraser tool. I've just had a Triumph 1050 body panels delivered for repair and re-paint. It has quite a bit of graphics to do. I've taken photo's and now working out how to do them in two colours. Will let you know if it works. As ever many thanks and top job. Cheers Jono

Hi Jono, You're more than welcome mate, when you do the trace the better the image the better the lines will be but as I said at the end, you can use the simplify tool, it shows the edit points and straightens the line out, it microscopic but it does make a difference when the decals get bigger. I didn't realise the lines were a little jagged, but it is easy to remedy. The Cameo 4 is cheaper now so a great time to buy one before they run out, software is the same for all of them so once you get to know it you'll be fine not matter what happens. You can put vinyl on vinyl, so just cut the colours individually, they are very thin so not normally a problem, you'll have stickers everywhere, and don't forget the tee shirts and caps, endless fun, cheers buddy 👍

Hi Pete, I spent ages last night trying to work out how to do two colours. I think I've got it sussed now - will let you know if it works and post a video for you to see. I didn't want to have two lots of vinyl on top of each other as that would make it too proud - my preferred method used to be, is a single layer, then 2 to 3 coats of clear, sanded back as far as I dare, then a flow coat of 2 good coats. I really like your method of using a mask, then paint the graphic colour, then clear. My idea is a combination of the two. Watch this space to see if it works.... Just one thing I would suggest - when looking for an image in Google, it's always a good idea to click on the small image to take you through to the images original web page - the resolution is often higher and when saved is a better quality image. Cheers Jono

Hi Jono, it will be interesting to see how you get on, I do it one of two ways, separate the colours and cut individually. The cut lines are normally spot on, so there is no overlap, or just stack the vinyl. If your flow coating it, you won't notice the fact there's vinyl on vinyl, or I cut stencils which I will do more now I've got some low tack transfer paper which makes intricate stuff so much easier. I always try and put as little clear on fairings, etc, basically parts that vibration can affect as the thicker the clear, the easier it can crack even with a flex additive. I'll give the image thing on Google a try, cheers mate, let me know how you get on 👍

Hi Pete, that was amazing mate I always wondered how these plotters work, I've mentioned to you before that they look really nice and you do some amazing decals and stencils with it but I've never seen one being used so now if I ever want one I wouldn't hesitate to get one👌 I used to be really good on computers as I used to make 3D models that you see in PC games and write all the code that makes them work, I made over 30 maps for a Ubisoft strategy game and even got my name in the credits but for some reason now I'm older I just find computers a PITA!😁and I hate learning new software programs, must be getting senile😬😂 Thanks for sharing this Pete I never knew that it was that simple but can also imagine it can be complex if you want to go further with it🤔👍

Hi John, I'm glad you found it interesting mate, hopefully it will spur people who are thinking of getting one. It doesn't really get particularly complicated the more you do. The only thing I had a problem with was print and cut, where you design in the Silhouette software, send to print on your printer that is loaded with printable vinyl and put it in the Silhouette Cameo and cut. It was a real pain getting it to register the marks that's printed on the vinyl so the machine knows where it is. People were saying you need more light. In fact, it was the opposite. You pull the machine cover down and / or turn the light off, and you're away. All I cut really is vinyl, so it is very easy to do, hours of fun mate, highly recommended 😀

Hi John, As you will have seen from my earlier comment, I've just bought a Cameo 4 and the Silhouette software is pretty easy to use - at least to do straightforward yinyl cuts. When you try to do edit cutting it gets quite difficult, but this is something you may never need to do. The machine is dead easy top set up and use and produces excellent results. Cheers Jono
