Hyundai Elantra Gt Burns Too Much Engine Oil which causing misfire and low mpg, In this video I'm doing one stage Piston Rings Soaking with B-12 to fix the issue.
Valvoline has a new motor oil called restore & protect. They claim that it will clean up pitons and rings. I haven't has a chance to try it yet, but I have used the B-12 soak on a 2015 Forte that was burning a lot of oil. It definitely helped the the oil consumption.
Apparently works extremely well. There's a video by a guy named "Oil Geek" who made a video on it recently and had an interview with the lab who developed it.
@@philjerome9795 Based on my searches through forums, it seems to work for oil consumption. Many people reported that by the 2nd or 3rd oil change that oil consumption reduced entirely and as low as 50%.
Berryman B-12 has a high evaporation rate from just using it. It is very good at softening/lossening the carbon build-up but I noticed levels in the chambers do drop alot fairly quickly and don't believe it made it's way past the rings into the sump. Going to do another piston soak to see if can clean up last bit or carbon still in there but will re-install the spark plugs to limit evaporation this time to see if it makes a difference.
Awesome video man! So how is it going? Has the oil consumption totally stopped? BTW you mentioned you had issues with the cat converter also, how did you manage it? Did you clean it?
I would like to see a more detailed video on turning the engine with the wrench and setting the cylinders to same level. '16 sonata 2.4l gdi consumes oil at 1qt per 500miles.
The amount of smoke that came out of my 328i filled the street with white smoke for about the length of a football field. It cleaned my oil sensor so now it's working properly again. Also not burning a drop of oil and no oil burning smell. I couldn't be more happy. I used my tools and a bore scope. I just did a 8 hour soak. Topped off Then rinse flushed out the spark plug holes. The amount of carbon was monstrous. Although the crankcase is in pristine condition meaning this car had normal oil changes before I bought it in March. I couldn't be more happier. Next is ultrasonic cleaning the fuel injectors.
What so u mean rinse flushed the spark plug hole. I just started the piston ring soak on my 2013 Camry with 250k on it. I plan on just turning it over without the spark plugs in it.
My apologies. Yes so after letting it soak with berrymans b12. For 8 hours I then used sea foam maybe a quarter cup in each spark plug hole then wait 5 min and turn the engine over to flush it. Now the carbon does a number on the catalytic converter as it was like burning coles threw there. It was just carbon though. I'm going to use cataclean next week. Also you will get misfires and hesitation. I put on new coils and ruthenium plugs. As of now my oil is still full 600 miles in. And I don't smell any oil burning. Also keep in mind just sea foam will not work. You have to do the soak with berrymans
@@Centralflorida22 thanks bro, I did it yesterday for a couple of hours with a bottle of berrymans. I did like 110 ml in each cylinder. After 2 hours it was gone. So I turned it over without plugs in and the first 2 cylinders had a bunch of carbon come out. But cylinder 3 and 4 were relatively clean. I’m guessing those were the problem cylinders. I use my car for work so i didn’t have much time. But i plan to do it again. I hope it helped only time will tell.
I tried it for a couple days didn’t help mine. Cylinder 4 miss fire only 30 pounds of compression oil on spark plug smokes like crazy. May try it one more time
My Toyota 2AZFE was using too much oil but had no leaks but I found out they had a problem with the drain holes in the piston rings blocking up. I put Seafoam in the oil and did about 1000km and changed the oil and it's been fine. I don't know if the Santa Fe had the same problem but maybe look into it.
@@SOUTHWEST_PILOT 30ml per litre of oil or one ounce per quart, there's plenty on youtube about it. Project Farm or Chrisfix are the best. I just found I was losing oil again but no leaks on the ground but the engine was a little messy and it turned out I had lost the seal on the engine oil filler cap somehow. It was spitting out and being burned up on the engine so look out for that too.
We get 350 miles per quart in my 2012 Scion XB. I plan on trying this method. We already switched to Valvoline's Clean and Protect. I guess the oil must be in the car longer than 3 days to be effective.
If car burn engine oil try oil castrol edge synthetic 5w30 high mileage or pennzoil 5w30 synthetic high mileage oil . These 2 engine oil are best if car burns engine oil
I got it on amazon, if u let is sit longer it should soak fully. I was no patient. (also u can ignite a few time without spark plugs so liquid is fully out of cylinders.)
@@jae7230 yes car wont start without spark plugs, you can watch on youtube how to do it but I didnt since I had pistons dry before putting spark plugs in
tricky! if your car has less than 100k. they will ask you to provide oil change receipts for every 3750 miles, they will try really hard to not cover it. I tried they say 1qt oil per 1000miles is normal and charge you for testing diagnosis etc.
@312Drive Wrong there a campaign kia and hyundai has oil Consumption problems . They extended the warranty on all vehicles, and yours is one of them. I sent customers to the dealer for this all the time. You just have to have proof of all your oil changes. And they have to be done on time
@@6jdhd I did not own it till 90k so I will not have a proof for oil changes since 2015 and so with many other people. trust me they will find a way to not honor many many people and I'm not dealing with them. I had 2017 sonata with 55k miles engine blew up. they did not cover it. go figure.
100k power train warranty is only for the first owner. Unless you buy a certified preowned Kia or Hyundai the power train warranty reduces to 5yr/60k miles for the consequent owners.
bingo, imagine how many second owners after 60k miles. same happened with my sonata with I bought at 54k in 1k engine blew and that was their reason u're not the first owner. crazy. but it is what it is.
