This shows you when it’s focused on the comics and actual comic creators… the general public does not flock to these cons. They want the tv/movie celebrities. Plus, the general public is done with the comic culture…they have moved on. This looks like a great actual comic show.
It was about time if you ask me. The " normies " don't even care about the product anyway. They simp either for the actors/actresses or their far left political agenda. Super hero comic books have to return back to OUR hands! The people, the fans, the paying customers who love and care about the characters, their moral code, their values, their ideals and their struggles.
I disagree, there were plenty of attendees, it just wasn't too crowded, part of which is due to the size of the convention center, which was perfect. Saturday was by far the busiest but still not too bad. The nice thing is that the people there were actual comic fans and it is a great environment. Highly recommended.
I was there Friday and actually am in this video a couple times...lol. You are right, this was a great con to be at. A true collectors convention. And, you are correct, you need more than one day. That is all I had but next year I plan to return with more money and to spend another half day at least there. This was my first time at HeroesCon and my only regret is I did not go sooner. Better late than never.
Back in 2019 it was packed shoulder to shoulder with cosplayer and Funko Pop crap everywhere but when they did the comeback show after covid they opened up a whole other section of the floor and pushed the cosplayer stuff to the back. It's so much better now, there's more room to move around and 10x more comics. I was there for 6 hours on Saturday and only managed to see a 1/4 of the comic vendors.
@@Stickygoose I've gone almost every year since '91 and it's always been a great show but ever since the rise of the cosplayer it's been an overcrowded mess. Opening up that extra floor improved it immensely. SC Comicon in Greenville was starting to give Heroes a run for their money but Shelton really upped his game this year and last.
Yes, like others are mentioning -nice to see a comic book convention that's mostly about comic books. The crowd of this show was what the San Diego con was like in the 90's. I think even around 2001 you could pull into the show a couple hours after it opened and park in the actual convention center lot for $15 and walk right into the show after that initial line went down. The deals, back then, were always on the last day of the show.
Best show I've ever been to. If a person couldn't find what they were looking for.. they weren't trying. Inner geek BLEW ME AWAY. An absolute world class show ✌🏾
I was the big guy in the black shirt in the Dream Haven booth when you walked in there. I had my head down digging and didn't realize it was you. Small world. Glad you enjoyed heroes con.
Great video and nice pickups. It didn't look that busy there, which is a bonus, I might make the trip out there next year. Fan expo and comic con in Toronto is so packed that you can't even breath.
It was a fun convention. The family enjoyed it and I meet many of my friends. Yes, you should have brought something to trade. Everyone was trading, even Metropolis.
You can see me at 7:31 to 7:35. The guy behind the guy asking about the Little Dot #1. I saw ya,I even asked them which appreance it was. This year heroscon was a blast!! Great coverage.
That's a convention I would sell at as a tiny little vendor. I sell mostly modern age stuff so I price it to $1 for regular covers, $2 for variants, and $5 for incentive variants (verify with customer it is indeed an incentive) and everything else has a price tag on it from CP and average eBay sale.
I was there all weekend. Sorry I missed seeing you. This is by far the best pure comic con for real collectors. I love that you are not smashed between people looking for books. Great creators.
Bro, I'm sorry I missed you there, I love heroescon, we have been going for years and always enjoy it. Sorry about the accident, there was some shitty traffic in NC.
I’m like the opposite of you at cons. I don’t collect singles at all. I bring in my hardcover books for the creators to sign, bring a sketchbook for free sketches, buy some of the books they are selling. I went all 3 days and bought 0 things from the vendors
I have attended Heroes con every year since 1997 and everyonce in awhile before that going back to the first one in 1982. It has always Been comic centered even when the people tried to come in during the early mid 2000's with the swords, cos play costumes, etc. Nothing wrong with that stuff but it didn't sell at Heroes con so those vendors moved on. You mentioned you were the mid to low grade silver age guy. Me too. I buy mine to read so I don't want to feel guilty taking it out of the bag to read so I just don't buy those high grade books. I WILL buy a reader copy and one to put up on some books but that's only with books that have some significance and are worth investing in. Enjoyed the video.
I’ve been going to this con for over 30 years. Best pure comic book con in the nation!! Sorry I missed meeting you. That was me in the blue at Dale Roberts Comics.
John Wayne 😂 did he call you Sticky Pilgrim Definitely glad nobody was hurt during the accident also incredible finds I never owned either of those Batman I may look for that Reaper cover I don’t know anything about Saga that’s pretty crazy it’s a $700 book hopefully they’ll make Saga a show instead of Paper Girls…Saga seems to have the bigger following
I was just looking for that mr miracle #1 at awesome con this weekend, I didn't find it unfortunately but maybe ill but into you at one of these conventions one day(I'm from VA)
He looked more like Kenny Rogers…he didn’t happen to start singing… “You've got to know when to hold 'em Know when to fold 'em Know when to walk away And know when to run…” And then ask you to stop for fried chicken.
I remember hitting up OKC flea markets in 1992-1993 and finding great deals on these silver and modern agar books. I picked up a New Mutants 87 back then when it was near its peak
@@Stickygoose right! This was before selling slabbed books. I think Mylar was choice of the commonly used protective methods. Do you happen to collect Valiant (Pre or post Unity series) I’ve started repurchasing keys like Magnus Robot Fighter 5-8 with Rai 1-4 on the flip side. Magnus 12 (First Turok). X-0 Man of War 1, Solar 1 & 10. I’m keeping an eye on an eBay seller selling an entire run of Harbinger 0-42 1992 for 299.99 I remember getting Jim Shooter’s autograph on his 1993 Warriors of Plasm #1. I believe the venue was the now closed Planet Comics in South OKC
I added a stack of books from Heroes to the collection. Found good deals on books in the 20-50 dollar range. Not too many people giving deals for wall books though. Most places charging $10-$20 over fmv then give you $20 off and act like it’s a deal. Overall good event but I found better deals at the Micro-Con in Concord a few months ago
I really wanted to go to the show...but it's hard to get away. I always find those big booths are abit overpriced but I get it. I made a video on the Philly Fan Expo experience and I know those big booths pay alot on the space. It's a squeeze. I used to go to alot of the Wizard World shows and would get great deals. I like the small shows for deals but I always like a mixed show. A few Celebrities, Artist and Toys. Good video Bro!💪
Sticky Goose, as a Canadian and planning to hit at least one comic con vacation that is focused on buying wish list silver age comic keys, is this the go to show? If not, what is?
I’ve only been to one convention. They are expensive to enter and I only want to buy comics. Plus, I’m not looking to overpay for them, so paying an expensive entrance fee doesn’t make it worthwhile. Comic shows are much better.
Looks like a really cool show, nice to see just books instead of a billion funko pops. Those are cool but after while it gets to be too much. Also Key Collector made some changes, what's you thoughts on that??
That guy that snubbed you at the highgradecomics booth looks like the owner Bob Storms. He is on the CGC forum, maybe he remembered you from your strapon video that made the rounds over there. I assume the high end dealers size you up like a car salesman and instantly decide if you are worth their time.
I’ve never been to a convention mainly for comics. I hear it’s better to bring cash not card ? Feel a bit iffy brining the money for grails since i am not in the best city
You were lucky not to shop with High grade comics. They do both C2E2 and Wizard/Fan Expo in Chicago every year. I call them very overpriced comics. I look at their books every show and move on. They usually have a sign that says all their books are 15% off sticker. Too bad all their books are marked up at least 20%. This year at C2E2 they had an X-Men #1 in 5.0 priced at 33K. The booth across the aisle had an X-Men #1 in 5.0 priced at 18K. I told High Grade they were out of their minds. I bought an X-Men #1 after the show in a 5.0 for less than 13K cash.
A lot of valuable comics available and you see the same comics in every convention video. It seems every dealer has all the major silver and bronze age comics for sale. In your opinion, do you think people are just offloading collections on the cheap or is no one paying high prices? Looks like you got some good deals by the way.
Nice scores. That Avengers #4 by itself would've made it worth it. There were plenty of deals to be had. And with so many vendors, it would've been a shame if there weren't. I was out there all weekend. My first time there and I enjoyed it. It's definitely a true comic con that I think perfectly balances the smaller one day shows with the big, full weekend conventions. Tons of creators and dealers with a variety of individual comics and collected editions at a wide range of prices. And the panels too to add to the experience. Definitely glad I got to finally check it out. Glad the accident wasn't too serious. Happy hunting!
Really depressing looking looks like flea market no cosplayers in sight at all big empty spaces in aisles you can drive car through them conventions like this don’t say around very long if there’s no big group of people attending for non comic fans want to show up same with movies do people actually think comic movies will be successful if only comic book reader fans where to see them only and not non comic fans he’ll no nice convention but not for me I went to one of these before my cousins act like they didn’t want to be there moment they walk through door if convention they went to with me was more like Comic con they look little Interesting be there., If comic fans can’t change with times how conventions to keep them in business to have more people sell more tickets then conventions like this one will eventually die out and comic cons will take over be popular as they are now
