This month's Reading Japanese Meet was a weird one. The police were as present as usual, but had an unusual task to undergo; to control the crowds of a football game alongside the usual car meet antics. It was Reading vs. Cheltenham, and the game coincided perfectly with the regular Japanese meet in the same location.

Roll on 2030! The longer we get from that time the less likely I hope it is we see these displays and see it less likely people can do these stunts. One of these days someone is going to do a donut or a burnout in the middle of a roundabout on a duel carriageway in a modified green MR2 or 350Z and kill someone because parts of the engine now find itself in the windscreen of a 1.2 Nisan Micra. I am no fan of EV's. They are heavily weighted in favour of people with huge budgets. All new EV's manufacturers release to sale are comparable to the price of a new petrol counterpart. They all appear to be within the £25-£40k area. We need to see them seriously depreciate in order for people like me with my meagre budget to be able to get one too. And EV's don't go for long enough or can be charged quickly. Once all those issues are resolved I think EV's will be in a good place.

It's ironic that the car guys often get pulled over when it's normal plebs in SUV's who don't know how to use a roundabout. According to the police it's more dangerous to rev a bit for a crowd than it is to just pull out when it's not your right of way.

Rolling road block from police. This was either to create traffic innorder to stop people racing out of the junction. Or it was to slow traffic due to increased pedestrian traffic from the football.
