Today I show you how I manage to live out of my tiny car day after day while I spend my time crossing off items on my bucket list. This lifestyle change has allowed me to travel the country affordably at this stage in my life. While it is not always ideal, I do have all the essentials I need to survive day to day and am grateful that my car is still chugging along! I try to stay in the mindset of gratitude for what I do have rather than focusing on what I do not have. If you have any tips for tiny home living, please share. I am new to this lifestyle and could use the help. Thank you all for watching!
SCAMMER ALERT! Please be aware there are scammers impersonating my profile asking for money in the comment section! This is NOT me, so please be careful, hold on to your money, and be sure to report the scammers! Thank you!

I did this for a while (about a year) to save money. moved into my midsized truck. Used a gym membership to take showers. It was a little easier for me, being a guy. I'm concerned about your safety. Had fended off a couple of "animals" trying to break into my truck a few times with a ah'em.. protective device. Thank God I never had to actually see if it worked. could tell a few more stories. Once transitioning back to a normal living situation, had a hard time sleeping at first. was so used to the truck. The other thing to deal with was laundry and keeping my living situation private from my employer. was afraid it would not look good professionally. I know this post is a little older now. Hope you are doing well and staying safe. God bless you ❤

Wow. I was homeless in high school and into my 20s. I often slept underneath the weatherproof tarps that covered the track and field equipment. Otherwise, I would be sleeping in my 2001 ford escort. Im 6’3’’ so i ended up sleeping vertically as well. I remember my classmates making fun of me as they started pulling into school in the morning and seeing my living situation. I felt like living in your car put you into this forsaken corner of society. Now, just discovering this video, I see someone who is living out of their vehicle is content creating and making an art out of living our of their car. If RU-vid was what it was now back in 2005, I would definitely have made it through those years with more smiles and guidance. Thank you for this video.

It is so clear that you have put a ton of thought into your set-up while doing it very economically. You have all your bases covered! When I retired I built out an empty cargo van with the help of my good friend. I have to say that I enjoyed the process of thinking about and implementing solutions almost as much as I do camping in the van. What amazes me is how little I need when I'm on the road. But I know I need to get out & have my own experiences. Plus the college is only like 45 minutes away from my house so I could go home anytime I want to. But I guess it’s the fact that that part of my childhood is gonna be over; even though I’m literally about to turn 20 🤣 never thought I would be the type to want to stay home & not move out but I definitely am for my doggies. I was forced to live in a 2002 Yukon XL Denali, I called it my "Hotel on wheels" since it was so big. Jersey winters were brutal at that time *unlike now*. Spending $100 everytime to fill the tank, just so I can have heat on those really cold nights suck, but I made it thru that time. I also put myself thru Technical school the entire time I was homeless. I say all this to say, if your choices are, sleeping on the streets, or sleeping in a car, make sure your car is big enough for you and all your gear.

Love the Corolla home vibes miss lady! Like others have suggested, tinting your windows is the best option for helping with both privacy and keeping it cool in hot sunny days. Your cardboard option is actually, unfortunately a very clear giveaway that someone is sleeping in that car. Also a roof rack would be ideal to help when you leave your water heating baggie on the roof. Otherwise, awesome stealthy set-up for living in a car. Love! Love! Love! The bed situation where you removed the back seat backrest and utilize the trunk so didn’t have to mess with the passenger seat and have two useful front seats which makes the car blend in. Safe travels!

I found your channel tonight. Congratulations on living the life you want! It's a gift from God that should never be taken for granted. When I was a kid, I was raised by my grandma, and me & her went all over Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, going to various antique malls. I've often said when I retire, if God forbid my wife passes away before me, I'd like to travel again, but next time, not only going to antique malls and flea markets, but also hiking in the wild. Just today, my family and I got back from the Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee, and while I'm not a fan of cold weather, it was a good trip. While there, we got to see a wild black bear. If you've never been to the Smoky Mountains, you should go. It has a lot of beautiful scenery with lots of trails, creeks, streams, and small waterfalls. Just make sure your brakes are in good shape! Btw, I just subscribed to your channel.

Hi Angie, It’s nice to meet you. Just wanted to say my husband and I loved our 2009 Toyota Corolla. We drove it for 13 years until it no longer passed inspection because of rust due to our harsh Vermont winters. That was a shame because it still ran wonderfully. We got 360,000miles out of our car.You made an excellent vehicle choice for your adventures 😊. Now we drive a used 2013 Toyota Sienna. We have recently built a bed in the back and look forward to a few adventures of our own. I’m 71 and my husband just retired. Best wishes to you on your journey ❤

This is a very good setup! Very similar to mine! I lived out of my tiny Saturn sedan quite comfortably for 4 years at age 60+. I bought 4 sets of black standard window shades/coverings from Walmart for all the windows at night. They pop open and close up quite small. I had black throw blankets and dark colored sheets so everything would look dark and be covered when someone looked into the car during the day. I did add a roof top rack and a rooftop box for more storage, a kayak and my bicycle. It really was my mini-RV!!! Good job sharing budget and compact vehicle living!

You should consider tinting your windows! Legality varies by state but I think it would help to keep the car cool in the heat and allow for more privacy. You have a lot of useful things in the car and only you should be able to see it! You can also buy some more interior space and extra cargo if you get roof racks with a tortoise shell up top Edit: I just saw your solution to the tints which was great. But tints aren't too expensive in case you change your mind
@jemr1865
@jemr1865 Год назад
Agree on the tints only because I think it actually gives away the living situation. If someone is scanning a park lot to break in, those homemade ones would stand out since they dont look useful for driving, only for living in your car.

You brought back memories of when I was in college. I removed the vertical part of the back seat of a rusty beat up 4 door 1967 Nova and removed the braces that ran vertically. This opened up the space into the trunk. I was able to put in a full size mattress into the back seat. This was my sleeping quarters. I lived in it for 2 years while attending college. I was able to use the gym at the college and shower there. My college parking pass was as good as gold. I blacked out my windows in the back and seldom drove the vehicle more than to occasionally move it to avoid suspicion.

Hey Angie! New to your channel. Something we learned from using a van as a camper. In weather in the +30'c when the heat is unbearable. We found that screen netting for storm doors. If done correctly can be secured to the windows to allow air flow but not the bugs as well allowing the window to open and shut without wreaking the screen. If I remember correctly we used the back and front door to wedge it tight to the van. Maybe some magnetics could produce a more easy to remove alternative. Hopefully this helps !

I'm so glad I found another car life channel! I have no plans of ever living in a car, but I just can't get enough for car life youtubers. I find the aspect of being able to have everything you own driving around with you and with you at all times so cool! Your "home" can be in the remote wilderness, or driving around in downtown Manhattan. It's so fascinating. And great video! You have a super organized system!

Good for you Angie. Get out of the rut of 'normal' living. It can't be easy but there are many plusses to living like you do. Disregard the negative responses, it's taken a lot for you to live the way you do and it's your choice. I'm proud of you!

I am from Germany and I lived half a year in a Toyota Avensis Sedan, which has somewhat more space, but I can relate very well. It's certainly uncomfortable, but it is also comfortable to be able to reach and grab every single thing you posses with your feet being at the same place (as I could...). I am really happy to see like-minded people!

You may have mentioned this, and I missed it. As a young man I lived with 4 other people in Yosemite National Park for approx. 2 years, we all had our own tents. We had the time of our lives!
