I bought a Sunbeam Cr 2025 lithium car key battery at Dollar Tree for $1 instead of the recommended Cr 2016. The 2025 is about twice as thick. Will it still work?
This is risky. Depending on the fob, trying to squeeze in a larger cell can damage it. People can and do ruin their fobs this way and replacement is not cheap. Up to you whether or not you want to save pennies at the risk of spending potentially hundreds of dollars to replace a fob.
