If you have to take 30% off MSRP, then you need to take a hard look at how much profit you are shooting for when you suggest that price. Suggest less, much less. Sell cars. QUIT BEING GREEDY! Build simple affordable cars, sell cars.
@AK.__
@AK.__ 6 часов назад
Try going to your employer and offer him to work for 30% less of salary. Or if you have business - drop your pricing 30% and see how it goes.
@Sqirldashadoo
@Sqirldashadoo 6 часов назад
@@AK.__ ok, let me check. No..they didn’t go for it. Thanks man you figured it out. They said they messed up and paid more to their venders , passed that cost on but also mainly focused on high margin products that took a large portion of buyers out the market. They said it all sounded great when they figured it would help off-set government mandated cost. But…. Not so much.

Well the fact is MSRP is just raised higher to make it seem like you’re getting a deal. Very similar to how Macy’s has a sale on just about every item in the store all the time. Make it feel like you’re getting a deal even when you aren’t.
@Ry-lx2kl
@Ry-lx2kl 3 часа назад
If they take 30% off of MSRP, that doesn't mean they were making 30% profit. They're probably taking a loss on most of their inventory.

You can get a way better deal today than you could 2yrs ago. However, as evident by that big dealer going bankrupt. Some will rather go out of business than admit that they were wrong and sell the vehicles for a fair price.

You can get pretty good deals on most NEW cars today! And some brands like Stellantis, you can get outrageously good deals (some even better than pre-pandemic). It is only a couple of brands like TOYOTA and HONDA that are still trying to screw over the customer! 🙄 ……but mark my words, they cannot do this forever. They can get away with this (FOR NOW) because of their “quality and reliability” and many people will only buy these brands. But eventually some of these people will realize that it is still much cheaper to buy another brand with a 10-year/100K bumper to bumper extended warranty, to address the “reliability” question.

Zach and Ray: I think you're both spot-on. But why does Toyota continue to be the exception? Yes, sales are high and inventory is low. But why is that? You would think other manufacturers would want to be competitive by making a vehicle with the Toyota-like ingredients that make them desirable and reliable. I don't own a Toyota, so I can't speak to their reliability. But they appear to be in great demand. Thank guys!

Toyota has earned that legendary reputation over decades. While many manufacturers have gotten better with their reliability, they can't touch Toyota's reputation because it was built over such a long time with successive CEOs continuing along that same path (The Toyota Way). It's not something you can easily copy, you have to put in the work, the time, and resources. It means changing the whole culture of a company, which is not easy, especially after leadership changes.

When inventory builds up at other brands and prices “crash”, Toyota and Honda will EVENTUALLY be forced lower prices too! Maybe not “crash”, but they will have to offer SIGNIFICANT discounts! Why? Because, as they say, everyone has a price they will fall for! If the price differential between a comparable Honda/Toyota and another brand is great enough, SOME people will bite, and a “chain reaction” will result! If you are getting a comparable VW Jetta for $6K less (real world price) than a Corolla, then there will be a good number of people that will switch, thereby building up Toyota’s inventory, forcing them, in turn, to offer discounts on the Corolla! Simple logic!

Right now new cars are slightly more attractive than used cars because some manufacturers are offering lower interest rates. With used cars, there is no support from the manufacture so you’re basically at the market rate. I recently purchased a car and I actually considered a used car prices were fairly reasonable interest rate was around 5.99 to 7%. I ended up buying a new car because I was getting 0.92% from the manufacture.

Pricing problem began years ago and not just for the car industry. Business as usual has shifted in America. Businesses are now only interested in the top one third of earners so that's who their targeting and setting prices for as their buyers. $100k pick-ups are priced that way because car crazy Americans who'll pay anything for a new car every two years still bought them, up until now. Low end small margin vehicles are gone as proof of their demographic preference. Also, car companies will go out of business before they significantly lower prices, they haven't done it in 100 yrs, it's just not in their DNA. Upper management will just close up shop and go sit on companies boards and cause the same problems there or they'll retire to their yachts after treating their customers like crap and laughing all the way to the bank.
