You don't carry cash at (presumably) a toy show? I was just at one this past Sunday, a really big one, and almost everyone was paying cash. I had $400 cash on me there! Most of the vendors I've spoken to don't want to use Square or things like it because then they have to charge taxes and such. Cash sales can stay "under the table". If it's an actual business setting up a table at a show, I can see maybe expecting them to have an option for cashless payment. But someone who's just selling stuff? No. If you don't want to carry cash, that's cool, it's your prerogative not to. But don't get mad at vendors who deal in cash only.
The point wasn’t the ‘cash only’ (which you admit is to be under the table though so…ok), it was the shit attitude behind it - AFTER the shit attitude initially. But thanks for the comment.

Always love your Car Rants! I’d also like to say that Bobby Vala has been nothing but polite to us at Hella Dope. Bobby and Ryan even took an hour out of their evening to talk with us at Power-Con when they easily could’ve told us to piss off. It’s a bummer about Joe Fest, but the good news is, it’s still 2023, and I’m sure Valaverse will still find a big con to hit in 2024.

I work in IT and it's common for people after getting laid off to start a business. Bobby has done that and made a success of it. People complaining about the brand need to realise GI Joe A Real American Hero is a re-brand like Action Force is with Valaverse. I have two young boys and was shocked to see how little new IPs there are. Even getting into collecting its a lot of re-doing old IPs. This is why I like Action Force, we get new characters like when we were young.
the dude even found some 4 inch figures supposedly from 2015 saying they where action force protypes and going on a conspiracy rant. They made hundreds of 4" gi joes. Its not that hard to kitbash that shit with joes and other 4 inch action figures, what a tool.

As someone who has nothing to gain from saying anything nice about Bobby, he's been nothing but an absolute delight when I've talked to him or when I interacted with him at Joefest 2023. Is he salty about being let go from hasbro? Yes but if you had put in the effort that he did, wouldn't you?

Happy birthday! I think it's the old addage of being good draws criticism from those who envy them. My dad would ask me when I whined "you want cheese with that whine?" I'm not a Valaverse collector, but they look good. Bobby seems like a passionate guy who does what he wants and is successful. I think someone needs a reset of some kind.
I saw that video and Bobby and tony were literally laughing, oh what a threat. You can’t hear anything so you got to go off body language and literally no threat. But I did not know he was part of Toy Department. So much was just made clear. My personal love for 1/18 is nothing against Bobby Tony or anyone, what they do you can tell there is passion care and drive in all the produce. So I do apologize if what I said sounded like a backhand insult not my intention I've made jokes and taken playful jabs at Bobby in particular in the past when I've seen him, he even responded one time I just wasn't ready for big boy toys...🤣
There is always going to be an asshole. And an asshole isn't anything but an asshole. Bobby is the ultimate success story in our community. Anyone else that opposes that fact has to produce some pretty good evidence to prove otherwise. I can only imagine that jealousy and blind faith in a product line is the cause.

I say this as someone who’s a big fan of Action Force and even enjoy Bobby most of the time, but he takes a lot of often unwarranted personal shots at people in the industry/hobby to the point it’s probably keeping action force from being bigger than it is

I've had so many conversations with him and not to mention he takes the time to address any concerns and issues with his property and handles complaints probably and on time. Bobby comes across as 'salty' about how Hasbro treated him and sent him packing. That's his deal. It's fueled him to do what he does now, and he's made no bones about it-and it's great for him, his family, and his fans. Any of us who have had an employer pat you on the back one day and lay you off the next can appreciate his vitriol toward Hasbro. However, The flip side, you want to keep telling the world how badly your previous boss/company screwed you over? Cool. Eventually, the sympathetic ears go deaf and may say to you, 'Hey, STFU, we get it.' And as much as I think he does a great job of being critical of Hasbro and how inept it is, he does get a bit old with the schtick. Either way, that's Bobby Vala's journey to take and his tale to tell. Don't like it? Don't listen, don't buy his stuff. I've only purchased a few Valaverse products and have no complaints about quality or anything else. I just wish his stuff were more available on his site or direct retail partners like BBTS and not FleeceBay
I've read the back and forth, opinions vary. Bobby has always been personable with me (on streams, never met him in person). He's proud of what he's accomplished in the career he's passionate about and he's earned some bragging rights - put his money where his mouth is and he's winning. Also, I figured it out after a stream he did about his journey creating Valaverse. Turns out, Bobby plays hockey. Hey toy fans - don't chirp a hockey player if you're thin-skinned. We Canadians just call that basic manners up here, eh?
My first ever reference to JoeFest was the Valaverse connection. I was going to go next year, see what the fuss is about. Now I know what the fuss is about, and it's clearly not behaving like grown-ass men. Thanks to this crap, I will never go to Joefest [unless certain people grow up].

Vendors that want cash only at shows/ conventions, like "That guy", are usually looking to avoid an income tax paper trail. I've exhibited at a few of the bigger conventions/shows, and have encountered wandering I.R.S. Agents checking Vendors/ Exhibitors of they have proper resale permits, and or Tax I.D.'s. I've been approached by them at the SDCC, FANIME Con, and the San Jose Super Toy Show. Luckily, I have all that paperwork, so I pass their scrutiny, but have seen a couple of those "cash only" guys squirm when they get a "talking to" by the IRS. So, hopefully the IRS visits JoeFest next year, and has a long talk with "That Guy" and the others just like him. Sorry for the little rant Chad! Love your videos! Keep up the good work!
I was thinking the same thing,I've been to tons of toy shows where plenty of the smaller mom and pop vendors were accepting credit and debit,but Mr. I have the biggest toy store ever only takes cash...Very suspicious.
@@jeremykerr3871 It's definitely a red flag for a vendor. It's fine for a buyer, I guess, but a lot of times these same vendors will try add "tax" to your cash purchase. If this ever happens to any of you, end the sale and walk away. Surely a crooked move.

You’re absolutely correct. Funnily enough, I have never even heard of that TD dude, even though I watch every single bit of Vala content that comes along on RU-vid. So the RU-vid algorithm thought I must want to watch his video since I watch so much Valaverse content. And I watched it. I could see what he was trying to do. But no matter what he said or what video he had it didn’t change 2 facts. 1, he wore the shirts and got a reaction he was obviously striving for. 2, in the months & months of 3POA & related content I’ve watched since Joefest, I never once heard of this jackhole. He brought it up months later. Anyway, appreciate your content & you’re doing an outstanding job. Keep it up.
I must be out of the loop. I don't know what video anyone's talking about...and at this point I don't even care. People need to grow up. There are always gonna be instigators and people trying to pull you down because it's the only way they can feel better about their own life. Be an adult and just ignore them. Was Valaverse told they couldn’t attend or did they elect not to because that guy will be there? If the latter, I think there is some growing up to be done on both sides and if the fans are the ones who lose, then that rests on Valaverse’s shoulders. I don’t know why the dude needs to crusade against Bobby, but I also don’t know why Valaverse couldn’t bear to share a space with one guy who doesn’t like them and wears snarky shirts. I won’t be in attendance either way, but I hope it was more of a business decision as I think it would be a bit juvenile to pull out because of a single hater.

The video popped up in my feed and out of curiosity i watched it. My take away is if you have to spend most of your time reminding folks about how much you had to drink to excuse why you dont remember exactly what you said but clearly remembered what the other guy said it makes me think that maybe your story is a bit BS.

Priced to sell but cash only. People's spending power is a lot higher with credit cards. People in general now have less cash on them. Travelling to conventions the cash they have on them is likely for some food, the bus or small purchases.
Bobby screwed over so many collectors and toy store that bought his crappy toys. He never Shipped items to people or to those toy shops. I don't see you saying anything about that. It's the same shit when their are collectors that say if your don't collect mint on card, seal boxed toys your collection is junk. I'm very happy with my my loose but collect figures and vehicles.

It’s funny. I’ve had good and bad experiences with Vala. During first wave, I had a missing item in a weapons pack and they essentially told to kick rocks. There has been two events where I brought up criticism and got attacked immediately. But I’ve also had pleasant experiences. I think the biggest thing with all the drama, is that Bobby is a massive douche bag and shit talks a lot. And that can rub people the wrong way. So its easier to shit talk and pile on, than it is to just ignore and block and walk away.

Bobby's a Jersey Boy and can come off as a touch abrasive to those not familiar with the breed. They can be direct and blunt. But I've never seen a or had a bad interaction with him. His customer service has been great. He makes a decent product. Including the best 1/12 scale guns at an affordable price. All of this insane Tribalism we are seeing. It's all artificial drama by RU-vidrs. We see the same shit going on all across Nerd RU-vid. Star Wars, Star Trek, Video Games, Comics.
