I'm not gonna lie, I just randomly discovered this band a few weeks ago and started going through their entire catalog. I find they're one of those bands where I have to listen to some of their songs a few times before getting into it, but man..once I do start to get into it, I'm hooked. This is one of those songs I noticed was extremely popular through some reading and couldn't understand fully why until now. It really is a masterpiece. I was just driving into Providence on this beautiful spring day, blasting this the whole way, and I believe I might've had what some a call a spiritual experience. I've been numb from heroin for the past decade + and I'm about to celebrate 5 months sober, so music just hits me on a whole new level these days now that I have a brand new perspective on life. Even during these wild, sad times, there's a lot to be appreciative and grateful for. Anyway, thank you to the RU-vid Algorithm Gods for helping me find these dudes.

originally i didn't like this new one, cos i thought it sounded rlly empty, but on re-listening to it i feel like it's just very distant from the subject matter, which changes the tone a lot. the first was really involved and overwhelming and gives you the sensation of being swept up in the action/emotions, and this is more like looking back on a memory with a different perspective.

I love the way that "do you have something against dogs" is said with the energy that the coming out should have. there's so much emotional buildup to what is ultimately nothing, and instead of being lost it's all put into the kind of frustration of "why the fuck did I say that."

One of the best songs I have ever heard. Packed with references to other phenomenal works as well. Gut wrenchingly emotional, but with a sense that Will is removed from the situation and able to look back upon it with harsh judgement. Leaves you feeling broken, angry, and a little crazy. What a fantastic song.
