This is a Video where I use Seafoam to fix a classic Mini Dieseling problem. Dieseling is when a Gas motor/car continues to run once the key is turned off. This is because of carbon build up in the combustion chamber due to incorrect fuel mixture. This is how I used seafoam to fix the problem on my classic mini but works on any carbureted motor from Volkswagen to Chevy to Ford.

So what is actually causing that? Build-up in the carb jets/bowls?
@LostSocketMotorsports
@LostSocketMotorsports 2 года назад
The car ran rich for many years so there is carbon build up in the cylinders. when it gets hot enough it acts like a spark plug and ignites fuel coming in from the carb (mechanical fuel pump and Carb) if you change the spark plugs and do this it usually helps break down the carbon build up.

@@LostSocketMotorsports What is SEAFOAM? I am in UK and need to find something similar
@LostSocketMotorsports
@LostSocketMotorsports 2 года назад
@@thomashumber9762 its an engine treatment for removing carbon build ups. I'm sure they have something like it in the UK. Just look up carbon deposit treatments for cars and see what would be comparable.

for sure, try this and also see if the plugs need to be changed. probably needs more than just this but this is a good start.

hi not sure if you still answer the comments on this video. But i’m not sure where my carburetor is on my 350z. And i have been having this problem for a couple days now.

It would be fuel injected and not carb. If you use a spray bottle of seafoam into the intake it may help. There is a way to “drip” it in but it’s a little more complicated.

When you say incorrect fuel mixture, is it more likely it's running too rich or to lean? I am assuming it's running to rich
@LostSocketMotorsports
@LostSocketMotorsports 5 месяцев назад
Yes this one was running too rich

mine does the same and i used sea foam didnt work
@LostSocketMotorsports
@LostSocketMotorsports 4 месяца назад
if that is the case then it probably needs some carb adjustments. if that doesn't work then it might need to be opened up to remove the carbon.

What exactly is SEAFOAM?
@unguidedone
@unguidedone Год назад
this is odd because i actually took apart the engine and cleaned the cylinder walls and pistons so there is no carbon build up and shot carb cleaner in the carb yet it still diesels for a few seconds. almost all domestic (usa) gas has engine cleaners in it so i cant explain why i am seeing the symptoms and cant verify seafoam will actually fix this.
@LostSocketMotorsports
@LostSocketMotorsports Год назад
Seafoam will fix the issue if the symptoms are caused by carbon buildup. Yours sounds more mechanical like timing or carb tuning.

Leaky injectors?

@@warntheidiotmasses7114 i figured it out, the carb was running rich and the engine timing was not advanced enough. valve timing needed to be readjusted and two lifters failed and throttle linkage was not adjusted correctly, and had a bad spark cable that gave a dead cylinder so the exhaust was too rich for the catalytic converter to handle if it was cold. i fixed it and its running fine. many other parts on the engine failed but the inline 300 is so reliable it continued to work at reduced performance so problems can be sort of invisible unless you take the truck on the road and really heat the engine up. because the engine is mechanical you dont have a diagnostic output of how its running or possible problems you have to physically inspect it by taking it apart and have a deep understanding of how it works and what conditions can predict failure. i can now disassemble the entire engine bay and put it back together because i did three times when trying to fix it. the third disassembly was just for mastery i got it working on the second go around. im working on learning the electrical part of the truck. the hardest part was custom tools you would get stuck because a wrench or socket extender was not long enough so having the correct yet basic tool set really helped. also having the chilton and haynes manuals for most of the step by step process of part removal and cross sections is a great help. the engine was a problem in itself that required another book isbn: 978-1-61325-517-9 "ford inline 6" it really is the best. what i did to improve reliability was i removed every part even if it was not necessary and cleaned it then inspected and tested then reassembled. after it was working you master each sub system of the engine in how it works and how to disassemble it to the level of you can teach it to someone else if necessary. the guys at the ford-truck forum did a great job with all the questions you can throw at them.

@@unguidedone Nice. Thanks for the feedback. I'm in Asia and into the old Nissans. I've got a Sentra B13 1600 that diesels and one that doesn't, but it shifts hard into 2nd unless I really stomp on it, then it shifts smother. I also have a VQ 2.0 in another Nissan. It runs good. Yea I wish I had my 3 slant 6's. I could've kept them running forever. 4 ! My 69, my Dad's recked Volare, my Granddad's 4 door something, and then another 69. But you know, you get bored and clear the deck, then regret. Thinking of starting a shop here in Asia that combines the auto business with a bar. American women still give me nightmares.
