+notformebeaky I'm personally a fan of Clarkson though he does get irritating sometimes. And I'm not saying this guy would be the perfect replacement for Clarkson, far from it. But it could be done I believe.
+notformebeaky Two things..I never said it had to be an American and I never said anything about Cooley being the replacement either. I simply and clearly stated that Clarkson can be replaced. Also you should keep in mind that in America we have different accents all across our great country. And if you think an English accent appeals to everyone in the world then you are way out of touch my friend. I only find the english accent pleasing on women personally..
I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!! There's just something about the MB emblem that screams classic luxury to me. The name has been around for a long time and will continue to for many more decades. For this particular truck, this review just underlined the all the reasons why I want one. Hopefully someday...
I don't get why people hate on this car so much, I personally love it. yes you are paying for a bunch of things you're not going to use but so what ? it makes you feel good and that's that. how often do people use the performance on ANY sports car on the road ? how many buyers actually take them to the track ? how many people buy all wheel drive cars when it would've been cheaper and more efficient to just put winter tires ? now as to why I personally like it ? I like the styling, it's a lot smaller than it looks, I like that it feels like tank, I like that it gets attention people will think I'm a douchbag, and I'll call em haters... but I don't see anyone crashing into you because they weren't paying attention to where you were driving. I love the noise !!!, I love the reliability and I love that if you buy one used it probably won't depreciate very much given that it's styling hasn't changed very much... I know it consumes too much fuel and isn't that comfortable but for me the classic styling and glorious exhaust note more than make up for it... now if I just had 140,000 laying around.
I'll tell you why, it's a waste ! Makes no sense buying one especially for that kind of the money because :it's not fuel efficient AT ALL, impractical especially driving it in the corners, and honestly doesn't have anything special on it or neither comes with any improvement in driving or fuel efficiency. It's a piece of garbage, especially for 150k at least now days ,. You haven't seen accident or dumbasses feeling on top of the world driving this ugly box? .... there are quite a few videos on here dedicated to this one
If I was rich enough to buy it I would get it in all black with everything, windows and tires, bulletproof and I'd get an even more powerful engine too.
megadriver6 their are a few companies which will even make it bullet proof, i think its 600k for the g65 bullet proof or 1.1 mil for the g63 6x6 bullet proof. although if you want a full on brabus its 1.2 mil for the g65 i800 and 1.6 mil for the 6x6 i700.
The best part about the G Wagon is that it hasn't changed. There is something to be said about older designs that are just amazing. I love that they have modernized the exterior and interior but they kept the hardware and exterior shape the exact same, almost like a RESTOMOD. Look at other cars that are no longer around because of safety, economy, EPA, and so on... The Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Land Rover Defender, and Toyota Land Cruiser 79 Series come to mind. They are still so classic in their looks that you would never want to change them, but for one reason or another they are no longer made or not sold here in the US. Mercedes-Benz because of their deep pockets has updated the vehicle where it will pass safety and emissions standards and that is why (because of low volume and because they can) they charge a huge amount of money for them. Great Video and I hope they keep the G Wagon around for many more years! Cheers to the Live Axle Off Roaders!!!
anyone looking at vehicles in this segment don't care about fuel economy. They care about capability or at least should. Would of liked to hear you talk about the heritage of the car since its pretty significant (50 years). Hand-built craftsmanship, unique and almost unchanged styling, and off road capability that nothing even comes close to makes this the greatest truck ever. You can daily drive this truck to work with ease and aside from the window regulators it'll out last the owner.
hi brian would love to see you make a video on the mercedes 6x6 and hear your comments on it. Love the great work by Cnet On Cars and Xcar. keep up the great work.
Haha.. I didn't even hear one good comment.. I'm pretty sure people buy this car because its unique and not basic like a range rover , that most people get.. This car is beautiful.
I am not a Mercedes Benz guy, but I have a lot of respect for their products. I hope they never stop making this vehicle, I would even suggest they start selling a G350 or a TDI version like they sell around the world. For the same money, however, you can buy a 2014 Supercharged Range Rover Sport that will run circles around this thing.
The g wagon wasnt used by the Nazi. It was a prototype army vehicle for the shah of Iran. When his regime fell, mb started building them for consumers. great review Brian. I hit the lottery, this is my first vehicle.
My one dislike with this vehicle is it just burns too much gas. There has been a diesel option since they started making them in 1979. I know this because they imported a few to Jamaica during that time. ( before they came to the U.S.) And I personally knew someone with an early 1980's version, which he still has today, over 30 years later. Todays turbo diesels by Mercedes Benz are much more powerful, while retaining the same good fuel economy they always had. It's a pity they don't import those to the US. I don't want to hear any rubbish about emissions, because there are diesel M.B's in the U.S. more now that before. These vehicles, despite the prestige they have, are exceptionally durable and ENORMOUSLY STRONG. They put range Rovers and other Luxury SUV's to shame and can be driven off road all their lives and not fall apart. Additionally, they have retained the same method of construction since 1979, with body on frame, with a dense steel chassis. For that reason, I would pay over 100k for one of these over a Range Rover and other luxury SUV's any day.
LMAO one of the most hilarious car reviews I've seen in awhile. Man, I would be pissed if I just bought this and saw this video later. He kicked'em square in the nuts with this!
I usually agree with Brian, but I'll have to disagree this time. I just love the G class. It's the "old school" look mixed with new tech. It oozes personality.
Everyone that commented that the G63 is ugly are jealous. This is the epitome of an SUV that most men would buy if they were wealthy. To me there's nothing better than this truck.
that 6 wheeler version except that truck cost over $400k however you can drive up or down extremely steep hills and you can inflate or deflate it's tires with a flick of the switch and drive through floods that are up to your crotch and FINALLY!!! that truck also has over 500 horsepower delivered to it's 6 tires!!
+sneakerculturevulture cul de sac is the answer but hey I'm sure a huge spender will no problem getting around to parking one of these as well as a owner of a motorhome
Once again, you don't have to believe me. It's a RU-vid comment, people lie all the time. I wouldn't expect you to believe me. But I assure you, I am NOT lying. Also, the G63 isn't my only car. And the only reason I came to this video was so I could send the link to it to my mom, who doesn't live with me, and didn't know what a Mercedes Benz G Wagon was when I told her that I got one a few months ago.. and this video tells her all about it.
