Lovely, practical project & who doesn't need a car trash bag? I just used Hook & Loop fasteners for fridge door handle wraps which turned out cute. These would make nice gifts.
This is the best teaching video I have watched. Thank you. I could hear you and see what you were doing. I have never seen backstitching when you made your turns at each corner and the backstitching on the Velcro. Also liked the cutout notch. I’m excited to make this bag before our next road trip. I look forward to watching more of your videos
8.5” x 11”. If you’re in the US it should just be the standard paper size that printers typically default to. But if you’re not in the US you should still have the option on your printer settings to change it
I read that the pattern designer had to take the listing down temporarily while they’re working on some website edits. It should be back up in the next few days, in which case the link in the video description should work again. Otherwise you can try messaging a moderator or admin in her Facebook group Sew Whatever and they might have another link they can send you in the meantime.
I can’t remember off hand, but you can download the pattern for free here: moremeknow.com/collections/sewing-patterns-supplies/products/car-trash-can-instant-download-pdf-mini-sewing-pattern
The link to download the free pattern is in the description of the video. The top part is an obscure shape so there isn’t cutting sizes for those pieces, you just have to print out the pattern piece and trace it onto your fabric 🙂

@@AngieKT327 My niece had a baby 3 months ago, so I will be making one to match the quilt I made for my great-niece. It will be to hold bottles, snacks, toys for all of the long car trips my niece takes the baby on.
Measurements are provided in the free pattern along with a printable pattern piece for the part that goes around the headrest moremeknow.com/collections/sewing-patterns-supplies/products/car-trash-can-pdf-download-only-sewing-pattern
This particular bag I used waterproof canvas from Walmart-my local Walmart as a sewing/fabric department. I also get waterproof canvas from FWD, which is thicker and I think better quality than what Walmart carries www.fabricwholesaledirect.com
I seriously need something like this for my wide 32oz water bottle bc it won’t fit in any of the cup holders in my vehicle. There’s no space for it anywhere in the front so if I am alone and put it on the seat next to me, I often worry it’ll roll to the front if I turn or something. And if I have a passenger, it goes in the back seat but then I can’t take a sip bc I can’t reach it!
I saw a post on Facebook a while back where someone printed the top “strap” pattern piece at 50%, cut the bottom “bag” part at like 8”x8.5” (I think), still used 2” cut outs for the boxed bottom, and then hung it from their gear shift as an extra cup holder. I’m not positive of those exact dimensions with a 32oz cup but sounds like it could work! 😄
It’s not my pattern to be giving the measurements out. As a courtesy to the pattern writer I don’t provide those but will let you know where you can download the free pattern on her website. 🙂
@@AngieKT327 thank you for your reply. I went into the link and completed the registration form and order form. Got a welcome email but no pattern. How can I now get the pattern?.
