I saw a clever trash car can the fabric was stitched so that a 2 liter bottle cut down made a liner so as not to dirty the fabric. I took it one step further and put a doggie bag and put it in so that I could just grab the bag when it was full

Your bags are prettier than mine. I made a car trash bag in class, years ago. I'm still using it. We sewed a matching fabric loop on the center back ( the loop is big enough to fit over a door knob). I use a big aluminum clip to hold the trash bag to just one of the headrest's posts. I can move the trash bag from the front seat to the back without having to take it off. We lined our trash bags with an empty one gallon water bottle (that was cut down neatly to fit inside the fabric trash bag). The cut down water bottle keeps the trash bag open. The liner makes it easy to empty the trash bag (plus, wet spills stay inside the cut-down bottle liner). I found some heavy print fabric in a gab bag of scraps (that I bought Tuesday). Now I know what I can do with those heavy cotton scraps. Make hanging travel trash bags. Thank you for this video.

I love the idea of the water bottle Arvetta. It helps with spillage too. I'm making a few now to see how they go in the shop😀

Thanks Christine. I knew you would have some good ideas for these. I have an unlimited supply of tenting/water resistant fabrics from damaged tents and canopies which I am using for the lining and a home decor for the outer. Living on an island we have to take a ferry to get anywhere so you always need these, especially if you have kids in the back, lol. Our population also multiplies by at least 4 in the summer so I know these are going to be a hit with the travellers. Great job.

Thanks Judi. I wasn't sure if the straps may have been too thin for you, but you could always increase the size😀

Christine I love both! I made one that just goes over the gearstick. The eyelets look very neat however the Velcro style has the advantage of being put on your passenger seat facing front or back depending on your need. Whichever, I think they are great 😊

Thanks Sue. The velcro is certainly more versatile😀

Great Idea, one thing I like about the velcro option is you can take it off to empty it :) That would be my thought to have it easily removable :) I think cam snaps would work as well :)

These are both great but I’d probably use Velcro, only because I already have Velcro and I don’t have an eyelet machine like you have. Ha ha ha, I don’t have a car or licence anymore either. I could make them and give them to my grandkids to use for rubbish in their parents cars though, they’d both need 2 or 3 in their cars as there are 6 children in each car for my daughter and my son. At least it may stop them throwing their rubbish all over the car as I’m sure that’s what they do lol. Thanks for this video I really think it’s an awesome idea for the cars.

Hi Christine, I probably need this when I become a grandma…. I had trash car bag when my kids were small.I am sure my hubby dumped it by now. I like both handles and I will make the Velcro version since I don’t have the eyelet tool. I think I will make two …one to hold things for kids on road trip and one for trash. I would have to play around with sizing and maybe make a smaller version for my driver side , to put it in my gear stick to hold smaller items like my iPod ( I don’t download music on my phone …that would require I buy a subscription). Thank you for showing us how to make these ! I am going to get ahead of the curve and make them hoping I get good news one day soon that I am going to be a grandma ….. wishing alone isn’t enough hahahaha.
