Another great and useful video, Thanks. So, I have a 2023 NX350h and every year I have to leave the car for around 5 months when I go overseas. Is there a way to minimize battery drain, and/or is there an easy way to disconnect the main power without having to physically disconnect the battery? I am thinking of removing a main fuse in the fuse box or something similar? Thanks again for your excellent work.

If you park it in a garage then connecting it to a trickle charger could help maintain the battery. You can disconnect the battery if you plan to leave it for 5 months. But when you come back, there are things that you'll need to initialize the trunk, the seats and settings. Pulling out the fuse would most likely do the same thing or might make it worse as the system might see that something is not functioning as expected and drain the battery more.

Very informative video, thank you. Perhaps you can answer a question for me please: as you have explained (in another video, i believe), it is important to unplug the charging cable once the veh is charged or else there will be a drain on the 12v battery. Our power utility here in BC is now offering a discounted electricity rate during off peak hours (11 pm to 6 am). I am assuming i will not be able to benefit from this unless i want to wake up at an ungodly hour to unplug the charging cable from the car? I dont think setting the charging schedule on the veh would prevent the drain on the 12v once the veh has finished charging? Thanks in advance!

What I've seen is about after an hour the 12V battery started to see a drain. But what I've done is to get a smart plug to cut the power at a certain time and it seems to trick the car that there is no power and the 12V doesn't drain. I'm still monitoring it at this time. But the recommendation is to use the battery as soon as possible after a full charge.

Was wondering this for so long! The tech told me there is a terminal exposed in the front but never looked for it. Thank you! When you say idling the car is best for letting the 12v battery charge, you mean just leaving the car in park while in HV mode -- am i right?

How hard would it be for Lexus to run a wire from the main battery to the 12v battery to keep it charged…Good Grief!!!!

You can't do that. The 12v will burn and explode. There is already a wire connected via the DC to DC converter. It just needs to be on to charge

@@s2ooo Unfortunately, not that simple, but conceptually, yeah, it'd be good. I'd like Toyota to turn on the DCC & associated computer to manage charging the 12V battery when the 12V battery is critically low or at least every so often to sense 12V battery charge state and recharge it as needed. Assuming of course that the drive battery has enough charge left.

@@koyamamoto5933 Yes that would be great,unfortunately I went overseas for 14 days,and when I returned the 12v battery was flat,the main battery was fully charged.The car is due for its first service on Friday. Cheers.
