Caravan Market Update. The end is near. 

We are thinking of looking at fixed bed, instead of our Cadiz, which has singles.

I think a lot of factors will affect caravaning.cost of finance energy prices general cost of living fuel to tow the van and how club sites are getting to expensive. It's made us think about the distance we travel to site's and using independent sites and C.L site's. Caravaning is in for change. Just hope people don't have to sell their caravans because of things beyond their control. Thanks for sharing

Bought our caravan new last September and paid £24.5k. New 2023 model now £30.5k. Almost 25% increase !!! No way would I have paid £30k+ . Another great video again 👍

I bought my current ‘van new in 2016. To buy the latest version of this I would probably have to put as much again as it’s px value and probably more. The gains would be almost zero as the differences are mainly cosmetic. Going by a friends new ‘van, it may also be of poorer build quality. When demand is high, QA is the first thing to go out the window!

Our family prefer single bed setups, it's very useful with different family combinations, sometimes I'm busy at work and my wife and her mum go away with the kids. Sometimes it me and a mate going for a boys weekend. Single beds offer that freedom of sleeping arrangements, as the double beds are fairly small in the first place.

I think the sale of new vans is where the market will suffer. I understand that materials, delivery charges etc have gone up, but I really think manufacturers have decided to cash in ,and it will bite them on the backside. I took delivery of a new Adria dart in August 22, I paid £22k for it, list is now nearly £28k. There’s no way the costs have increased £6k.

I run a large dealership , I do Motorhomes but we are big caravan dealers too and do a similar monthly walk around and market chat and I wpuld say exactly the same! Almost nice getting slightly back to normal, Motorhomes are a bit different as the new supply hasn't improved yet so demand on late model used is still extreme.

You're absolutely right. We bought our first caravan 18 months ago. A lovely little two birth, however we quickly realised we should have got a fixed bed. We have just part exchanged and take our new one out for first time next week. Both Lunars as they have brilliant size showers and make the most of every bit of space. Pity they dont make them anymore. We just wish we'd done it years ago!

I'm hearing lots of folk saying that a caravan is by far the best option for breaks and holidays right now as the cost is still less than major holidays abroad and of course HERE too.....we worked out our costs and its amazing value per week to be honest....each to their own naturally lol.... best wishes Paolo and Roger aka 'The Camp Caravanners'

With the rise in living cost it could also encourage/force people to holiday more in the uk rather than going abroad meaning more first time buyers coming into the market or people holding on to there vans for next season until living cost settle.

Great video Mark 👍 we away for long wk end in Shrewsbury an popped into a big local dealer, sure you can guess. Got a big event on for a wk so we went for a look. Knocking £1000 off caravan prices which are still well to high and noticed there apr rate is 14.9% 😮 shocking. Defo won’t be upgrading our van for a while now.

In my opinion touring caravaning and Static Holiday homes sales will crash, I have already witnessed people not renewing their seasonal pitches for summer 2023 because of big seasonal and static service pitch increases. My own summer seasonal unserviceable pitch went up £300 to £2'900 for 8 months plus real expensive electricity plus £15 surcharge per bill. Also this year the electricity will not be capped on sites or any business this will be passed on by caravan sites to customers. With fuel prices about to rise again because of low oil production by Arab nations to drive fuel prices back up, then factor in the increased cost of living, redundancies ext, ext, things could get tight for caravan sales, there could be a glut of 2nd hand vans on sale at the beginning of the new year. Sorry for the doom and gloom comment but I have seen it all before. 1970 - 1985 many caravan manufacturers went to the wall. Sprite, Thomson ext ext.

Another nice video update Mark. I think people will be holding onto their vans a little longer especially if they are on finance but saying that we recently upgraded from an Avondale Mayfly to a Swift Challenger 570, main reason was grandkids ( 4 berth ) fixed bed and large end wash room which we love. We took the decision because you only live once and we are getting away as much as possible, love the caravan life. Your channel gives great advice and tips as well as being able to view around different vans and layouts in the comfort of your own home, keep up the good work.

Brilliant & seemingly honest appraisal 👍🏻 We bought our first caravan this year (2013 Unicorn Valencia) and have found the layout isn't 100% for us so will be looking to potentially part ex at the start of next year if the right van comes up, so we will shop around to try and get the best price for our van...it's nice to see dealers offering this advice as opposed to "bring it to us, we'll give you the best price "

A drop in sales in the industry is obvious this time of year hence why the NEC ask timed in to try and boost the market. With manufacturers increasing their prices more than ever am confident to say coupled with how expensive site fees are we’re at a parity in the market. Even with a caravan we find that this crazy market is going to come to an abrupt end as people look at their finances . Caravanning was a cheaper holiday but now thanks to the ever increasing energy costs were all paying a very heavy price to keep on Caravanning

We were looking to trade in our 2012 Lunar Venus 380/2 for a van with single beds, but not sure now. Decisions decisions 🤔

The dealer that we bought from, had one that we were interested in, but we would be losing £6500 from the price we paid last July.

Not sure about your comment about supply chains for new vans. I have now been waiting 13 months for my new Compass Capiro and still no sign of it turning up.What a complete joke.
