So I’ve just recently found him through RU-vid because of the movie Whiplash. Never heard of him but I feel like he’s a legend in the jazz world. True?
Charly, how in the world do you keep both hands & arms, both feet & legs, your shoulders and head all moving at the same time? Remarkable!! And, how in the world can you play so fast and not lose a beat? Watching you play double bass, all the other drums and cymbals at one time just thrills me! I know you have been playing for a long time and you still have it! The audience just loves you and are thrilled to be seeing and watching you play! LOVE YOU! SYLVIA! 8/10/2021
WOW! I have been following Charly Antolini for years on RU-vid. He has sat behind several different brands of drums. This time? Ludwigs + Charly! Great combination how he tunes them!
"CHARLY, MY BOY, OH CHARLY MY BOY", YOU ARE SO EXCELLENT AND FUN ON THOSE DRUMS! I LOVE YOUR PLAYING AND ALL THE "TRICKS" YOU PERFORM WHILE PLAYING YOUR FAVORITE INSTRUMENT. YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION TO ME! LOVE YOU!! SYLVIA! 5/25/21
Wow. In the close up of the Snare drum Charly is playing a Slingerland. I'm a Slingerland junkie and it just happened to catch my eye. This man is a monster. I love Charly.
What Slingerland snare do you think it might be. I wonder why he didn't use one of the Ludwig snares. They make great snares, as did Slingerland. 75 . That's amazing.
@@roybeckerman9253 I can tell you for sure it's a Slingerland Gene Krupa model Chrome over Brass 14x5 snare. You can tell it's an "newer" production from the 3 "groove stripes" going around the shell. The first ones made didn't have the grooves. They go for about $250-$500 online depending on condition. Since they are considered vintage a lot have some wear on them. I see it's an old comment but I love snares so I thought I'd help.
Aaron Dirty I have a Gretsch Brooklyn COB 5x14” snare and it sounds like rubbish compared to this. I have an Artist Model Slingerland snare, which is brilliant.
Some of the best playing and soloing you will ever see. Charly has been doing this for a long time. He seems to play alot with the left stick held backwards, not sure why. It would give you more power and volume but would seem to throw off the balance and speed somewhat. Everyone has their way of playing and Charly is one of the all time greats, so it works for him, love to watch him.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rCJCiy3Vl6Y.htmlsi=nEXkIfZlI27NM5aV Hub Jansen was the man Charlie Antolini respected. I've seen them on the internet, there are clips, the three-way battle, Jansen was/had great technique, even Antolini bent.
Joe Morello proved that you don't have to play a million miles an hour to show real talent on drums. He could play fast but didn't make it his signature style.
Ma786sai Dua No-one can play like Charly. His rhythm, sticking and primordial beats are forged only in heaven. What an absolute delight to Savor this Master
Charly, a lot of hughes brrrrrrr draammmmmm, poing, zisch, trataataataaa but where is the music? The music is on holiday and relax with Joe Morello! Poor Charly
