If you or the service engineer have either removed wheels or even just loosened the bolts then they need to be torqued up again after 30 miles of travel. Also you need to back off the torque wrench after use.
It’s already been mentioned to always to the torque wrench back to zero, but I’d also like to add if you are going to crack them off first to retorque them, I’d personally use a breaker bar and not the torque wrench.
We checked ours and tyre pressure on Monday... we're at a seasonal pitch so it doesn't move but great advice as ever.......Paolo and Rog...aka...'The Camp Caravanners' x
I couldn't agree more. I had a wheel that came off the caravan. Fortunately I was going slowly as I approached a junction. My overriding concern was what if I had been going fast and the wheel had hit a pedestrian at speed - a horrible thought. Even though I was going slowly it caused a great deal of damage as the wheel went through the floor of the caravan into the bathroom. The cost of the repairs came to £8500. Thankfully I was with a great insurance company who took care of everything. Since then I've always checked my nuts before every trip!
Also a good idea , are wheel nut markers. Just so in the services on a a pee stop , you can just do a walk round visual. £3.50 for some chrome nut covers and simply drill a small hole in one corner.
I had it once scary experience. I picked up my caravan after a service and a mile and a half up the road I heard a clicking and before I could stop bang!! And seen the wheel bounce right past my car! Was lucky as the only damage was the plastic wheel arch trim and the mover got slightly bent. The dealer sorted it quickly an put a new mover on as a good will gesture and full apology
Hi Mac, we did thank you very much, we have had most of the repair done now so just some paint work to do. We managed to remove a panel inside to repair the panel from behind and then have it stapled from outside so a few more days and we should be back to how it should be. We have a quick sneak peak inside on next weeks video 👍
@@thecaravanplace That's great news mark. Hopefully it didn't cost as much as you first thought to repair. Is it still ok to pop over one of these day's for the battery? Don't worry if it's not convenient I understand. All the very best to you and your wife.
@@macbilling6410 I think its worked out about the same cost wise but its a lot less risk of causing more damage by removing the panel. It just meant a bit more work inside but with less risk. Yes no problem at all for the battery. Thanks again.
