Caravanning Australia: Exploring Bridgetown and Nannup! Our first Paid Caravan Park, Karri Valley!

We spend a day walking and driving around Bridgetown before heading further south for a look around Nannup and then on to our camp for the night, out first paid camp for this trip on the stunning Karri Valley!

‘up’ in Nyoongar means ‘place of’. The Nyoongar word for water is ‘kep’. Not sure where people got the water reference from but this is a common misconception.

Darryl is correct. 'Up' means 'place of' not water.

I was told years ago by a Nyoongar man the “up” meant that there was water available nearby

Up on the end of the towns in the south west means place of water/swamp and up also means place of

Hi guys, the 'up' in location names means 'water' as I recall from my visit with coal mining family from Collie there so many years ago.

It was probably the Nannup tiger. A legend around that area, could Be a Tasmanian Tiger that survived In that area.
