DESCRIPTION:
This video, tightly integrated with a tutorial at www.sciencemusicvideos.com/ap..., explains the chemistry of carbohydrates. It's designed for use with college-level freshman biology classes, or AP/Honors Biology at the high school level. Topics covered include:
1. What is a carbohydrate
2. Monosaccharides
3. Disaccharides (glucose, fructose, lactose, including lactose intolerance)
4. Polysaccharides (starch, amylose, amylopectin, glycogen, cellulose)
The video covers content in AP Biology Topics 1.3 and 1.4

If you're interested in describing the muscular system, here's a thought: Have an accordion player join you. Why? Because muscles are like accordions. They both function by contracting and retracting and they both twist and bend to do different things. Also, if you don't work a muscle it can get cramped up and cinch. Same with an accordion. If you leave it alone to collect dust and don't clean it, it might not play properly. Also if you pull to harshly on a muscle, you'll strain it and it will take awhile to recover. Similar to an accordion. If you pull to hard or treat it too rough, you'll damage it and it won't play properly.

It seems like the volume keeps getting lower as the video progresses but this is really good, thank you. One question: is vitamin c necessary for carbohydrate production? If so, is it because of the citric acid process that occurs during digestion?
@sciencemusicvideos
@sciencemusicvideos 2 месяца назад
I don’t think that it is but that’s a little bit deeper in terms of bio chemistry and I usually need to go. Carbohydrates are produced during photosynthesis and I don’t think there’s any citric acid at all involved there. When we create carbohydrates from glycogen, it’s just a hydrolysis reaction.
