Good evening John i recently found your channel and just watching all your vids I’m amazed on how much detail you put on your vids and taking time to review and explain the positives and negatives of brushes, razor, soaps etc. for anyone who is new to wet shaving I recommend them your channel . Very professional and knowledgeable you will make newbies make good decisions and will encourage them. Keep it up 👍🏻
Thank you I appreciate the kind words! I try to be informative where I can so I can convey my Persia experiences with the product. Have a great weekend
Happy to see you enjoyed everything and it worked out well. I’m glad your shave using it was with a Kai as I use that as my go to blade in the Carbons. Seems like it maximizes the closeness and find it I do less strokes on each area of the face. The “+” plus plate is a better daily shaver for my face over the "-" minus. As I daily shave more and more, I still try experimenting with different things. Although, I try to avoid 3 passes but that can be hard to do consistently. I try to exercise less work on the skin but maintain somehow a close and consistent finish. Stoked that you like the scent and performance of the Flying Mango. Here is what was in my notes for the scent composition: Top Notes-Tobacco Leaves, Citrus, Balsamic Hint Body Notes- Aromatic Floral, Lavender Base Notes-Wood, Musk It’s good the lather didn’t break down on you. Drown that stuff with water and reap the reward. Looking for more razor reviews from your channel. No rush on borrowing the Carbons, enjoy them. Cheers
Yeah it’s a fun razor to use for sure when there’s an array of plates and many potential blade pairing combinations. I’m glad I went with the Kai as I definitely thought it paired well. Thanks again for allowing me to try both the soap and the plates. Reading those scents adds a bit of clarity for sure. I can pick up a lot of things but everything since SV tends to do a really good job blending all those scent profiles/notes.
John love your vids. Value your input. I lean this way (carbon minus) as I also shave my head. Deciding between these 5 in this order (how would you rank?): 1. Carbon Cx-graphite .71mm 2. Timeless titanium.68mm 3. Blackbird Titanium 4. Blutt BR-1 .67mm 5. Tatara muramasa SS Skin is somewhat sensitive and like I said, I shave my head 🤷🏼♂️ It will be my first DE purchase. I’m all in.. and don’t need to be a collector. I currently use the Leaf razor which is also great for head shaving💪🏼
I personally like the other Italian high end soap Antica Barbieria Colla better than Saponificio Varesino. Try these high end soaps from Europe, Los Jabones De Joserra and Lodrino soaps from Spain. Try HAGS, Grooming Cult, Savon Mystere, Kerkini soaps from Greece.
If you're interested in European soaps, you should check out the Swedish Witch vegan base. Can't wait to hear your full thoughts on the Blutt razor, I believe Jack said it had the best clamping he had ever seen.
Yeah I’ve heard good things about them but I dont think they ship to the US? . He’s probably not wrong I can’t think of many other razors that beat it in this category
Hi John, I have a question that I’m having troubles finding the answer to! Do you know of any razors with no blade feel at all? Something with negative exposure and small blade gap at the same time? I’m looking for something to go ATG auto pilot and very comfortable but not super bbs. I get ingrowns shaving ATG with every razor I’ve tried, I don’t want to cut flush with skin. I’m hoping to find something that will give me between BBS AND XTG, but doing so by going against the grain if that makes sense? What about the Muramasa on level 1? Is it worth going ATG with something so mild in your experience or do you find just going XTG with an aggressive razor yields better results? I’m sort of stuck here. So far XTG with a blackbird is as close as I can get, but I still have room for cutting, but can’t take an ATG pass. Hence why I’m looking into something super mild for ATG. Really would be appreciative for your feedback!
The Muramasa is not a bad idea I get almost no blade feel at all on setting 1 but I wouldn’t get an adjustable that pricy for the sake of getting setting 1 on it. I’d probably go with the Karve A plate or the AA plate . Pretty sure I couldn’t feel the blade in that thing which was to me a weird sensation for sure . Rockwells on lower settings are also very mild. Also have you tried the .68 game changer? It has blade feel but very little I actually prefer it to the mild ASD-2 from feather. A lot of people with sensitive skin seem to like the feather but it lacked a ton of efficiency for me. I hope my recommendations helps
Hi John! Nice video as usual! Would really like to see a comparison between this razor/plate and the Blutt razor (preferably on the .67 plate). Which one is the most comfortable (as in the least blade feel)?
Not sure if I will be able to get to the comparison cause I have WR1 and 3 Carbon plates on loan before I have to return them but I’ll see. I can tell you off the bat the .68 Blutt has less blade feel than the minus even. I get similar if not better efficient out of that but would be safe to say similar .I suspect this is due to the neutral blade exposure and exceptional blade clamping
