In this video I am installing an Aftermarket Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel on my 2016 Mazda 3.

This is a beautiful carbon fiber steering wheel that really gives my car that aggressive supercar feel in an econo car. It is made from an oem Mazda steering wheel.
Overall this install took about 2 hours of actual work and once the airbag was off, it was super easy to do. Let me know if you have any questions?

How did that go? Wanted to do it to my 2016 but I’m told u have to re wire the buttons on steering wheel the 2017-18 one to get cruise to work and u will also loose ability to reset your info like mpg average speed etc so I gave up if u found a way plz plz share it cause I’d love new wheel

@@joshymcdaniel9233 I didn't bother rewiring so I did lose the ability to change the information display but I made sure to set it to the range screen before removing the old wheel. Cruise control also no longer works but I never used it anyway.

@@iwetino cruise is just an easy solder an extra wire and connect it to a pin google search should bring up how but yah the info button can’t find any info on it’ surprised the ui changed that much it isn’t just a direct plug n play like most r

How do you move the steering wheel tabs to push the airbag off without reconnecting the battery and moving the steering wheel to a potion to make the tabs accessible?

Hi, I'd like to have dedicated voice assistant button on the steering wheel. Can I swap the left command part/ the whole wheel and get it working? Easier, can I map aftermarket stereo with a combination of pressing like double press or long press of existing buttons?

gawdammmmnnn thats nice! I was trying to wrap the fake carbon fiber in red but I could never get the damn airbag off. WIth your video I have a better understanding on how to get it off now. Thanks!

I personally love the feel. My build was smooth and does feel right. Different at first obviously. Overall no complaints and i drive it daily.

so grateful for this channel, I have 3rd gen mazda3 hatchback and I've been desperately looking for someone else who's modding one. I'm assuming you went with the carbon and suede steering wheel? Edit: do you know if the leather + carbon one also comes with the paddle shifter extensions?

Any ideas why my steering wheel isn't straight while driving? (2015 Mazda 3 sport sedan) The suspension was checked by the dealer and third party garage. Tire pressure is fine as well...

Could be alignment or your steering wheel might not be centered correctly.

I also got the Keyless Mazda but my Steering Lock always kicks when I start turning the steering wheel in so I can't turn the steering wheel without the battery connected to unlock it again. Can you help me? How did you do it?

@Greg, hey I know its been a little since you've done the actual install but have a question I think you can answer, especially with your electrical know how compared to average folks. That being at around the 5:20 mark your covering briefly the connections and wanted ask you if that bottom electrical connector is a 12v supply?? I just got a LED steering wheel and what little instructions we got was laughable. From what my mechanic and I understand the best way to power this fancy thing is thru a 12v connection or else things will get really complicated. Hope you can shed some light on the power supply and aka the bottom connector. Thanks - Joe

Yeah its been a while... but thanks for the kind words. So i honestly dont know what the voltage coming from those conmectors are. But i would imagine they arent 12v bc its for the controller but i could be totally wrong. You could test the output with a volt meter.

@Greg, got a follow up question. Ordered your carbon fiber extension paddles and will hook them up asap, so this could be super obvious but how will I install the new extension paddles on the oem set up? Thanks for the help in advance. P.S got that led steering wheel working a couple months ago and put the post on the club. It was difficult but worth the time. For me at least lol!

What Trim Level do you have? I have an S Touring and mine had stock paddles. So If yours doesnt, then you need to install those first. then the extensions fit right on them. you will see when you get them! How do you like your LED steering wheel? I was thinking about it a while back before I got my suede carbon fiber one.

@@GregPettus I gotcha, guess I won't need to over think it haha 😆 And I'm loving the new LED steering wheel. Hard to believe I'm the only one in North America with one but I understand after doing the install. Absolutely zero support provided from OHC realistically and electronics don't always carry same from car to car. So that being said I had to consult with a few folks online and in person. Even my dealership tech took a look and didn't know where things needed spliced. Worth the hassle but the cost, delay in parts and 5/5 electronic splicing difficulty are overkill for most in our community I feel. But it's still fire :p

How much was this? I am debating about the Corksport one with Alcantara ... or one that everyone has this other Carbon Fibre looking one... have you seen cars with either? comparison?

$500. Depends on what style you like. The Cs one is nice cuz its flat bottom but otherwise stock. I like this Carbon on because one its real CF and it just feels beefier. And i really like the flat top and bottom

Yo man let me know if you can make the video tutorial of the center console removal or not. If not I'll just try to risk it and see if I could plan on doing it myself. I'm not trying to come off as ignorant but I'm only saying this because I know you're a lot more DIY inclined than I am and you have more experience doing these things with a higher success rate. Anyways man thanks. If you can't do it, I'll just do some super planning on how I'm going to approach this. Anyways, Peace.
