In this episode of [Field Prep] Drift Corvette Build, Matt Field, Ty, and Graham continue to work on the Chevrolet Corvette drift car. After waiting for almost three months, the carbon kevlar panels [rear bumper, front bumper, quarter panels] from HGK have shown up for the drift Corvette and are ready to be mounted on the car, along with preparing the rear end frame rail for future install of the radiator and bash bar.
Formula Drift driver and Frenemies star Matt Field is swapping out his Nissan 240 S14 for a Chevy Corvette C6! Follow along as he and his crew transform the flood damaged chassis into a full FD-spec Falken teal and blue drift machine--all in his Northern California shop, Drift Cave.

It's coming along amazing! I also wanna say I respect the editor of these videos for cutting the clips where you pause or say "uhh" so it doesn't make the video 20 minutes for one tiny thing like almost all other RU-vid car builders. Good job guys!

Franco Pettine Go to Illiminate’s channel and look for the GTR coilover videos, he says he got the kit so he could run it all season and not worry too much about wall tapping because of how durable it is. He also helps Randy custom fit his coil overs for the GTR

HGK Bmw E92 in full kevlar got hit pretty hard in the door panel once after he spun mid drift, and had 0 dmg to the car even tho It was a pretty direct hit at a speed of maybe around 10 mph.

its cause it wont break as easy as glass fiber , as he said its rigid yet it can deform and take back its shape , kevlar is the bullet proof material , it wont crack like fiberglass on impact

I didn’t really consider durability since intentionally wall tapping a fully built pro spec car that isn’t a missile seems pretty retarded to me. But hell the vette with full interior is only low 3k in weight. Hell of a lot lighter than the boat gittin drives. Not hating, he’s a great driver, but mustangs are way heavier than they should be and certainly more than a vette.

Xantteboy it's kevlar plated:even if he does crash he and the car will be fine...It's the barrier you should be worried about

Please use at least a dust mask when cutting/sanding/drilling carbon related materials. Especially with a kid running around.

ValleVaan I was just thinking the same thing but now he would have to cut his complete exoskeleton cage off to do it but I think it would still be worth it for the looks and aerodynamics with a carbon-kevlar drag wing and lexan windows he'll be good to go in my opinion with the aerodynamics it should make his car hook better at the track cuz right now that's what he's fighting and he just don't know it with all that broken and dirty air around it

I know this might be a stupid question, but won't having such a light back throw off your weight distribution, or is a 50-50 weight distribution not very needed in a drift car?

Miguel Bigott don’t forget the rear has a winters quick change rear end, the Samsonas sequential transmission, axles, 4 brake calipers, huge radiator, nitrous bottle, optima battery and the fuel cell. We’re not sure what the balance will be, but won’t be shocked if it’s 50/50 or very close to that
