@@ryanmacarthur1299 true. What I don't understand is... I live in Alberta, next to a quarter I own there is a MASSIVE 160 acre solar farm, from where I live I can see TWO wind power developments. There are also more solar energy sites I can see while I go about my business. So my area is substantially more crossed over to solar and wind generated power than it was in 2019 and I have not seen a decrease in the carbon tax I am charged on my electric bill, in fact it has been going up with the rest of the country. So even energy derived from solar and wind generation is being taxed with the carbon tax.. I thought the point of the carbon tax was to decrease our reliance on fossil fuels. I will bet any money regardless of what percentage of our energy is derived from solar or wind Trudeau will continue to increase the carbon tax. Carbon tax will become the next GST. My water bill also comes with a carbon tax. I can't do a rolling eyes emoji on my keyboard.. but trust me I'm rolling my eyes.

Every 2 or 3 months I scrutinize my heating bill because of the carbon tax. A couple of months ago I had a look at how much gas I used and the cost of gas alone. Then I looked at the carbon tax which cost me just over 1/2 again the cost of natural gas. Have a look at your own gas bill. Chances are you pay for the gas AND a 51% surcharge on the carbon in that gas.

To be fair, pensions and healthcare isnt doing too well either. Neither is our defense spending, we spend a few billion on a couple planes here, a couple billion on propping up pro Western governments there. The real trick would be finding the government policies that havent screwed the people over in some way.

@@kensnape599 the company I drive for trucks all the used tires in for recycling (after they have been shredded) where they are incorporated into various products: it is quite expensive, for instance a truckload of shredded rubber from one end of a large province to another burns approximately 1000L of fuel give or take, but leaving the tires in a landfill has resulted in some pretty stinky fires over the years - far as I know the most common use is incorporating them back into the asphalt we drive on, not sure that's great asphalt I suspect not, that it's to blame for the poor state of our highways. This is what happens when you legislate "solutions" when you believe that legislating is the solution even though the market has not found an economical use for any products except metals, particularly aluminum: costs less than 10% of the energy to recycle Al than extracting it from bauxite in the first place (however, there are new processes for extracting aluminum that use about half the energy of electric arc furnaces) back to tires: in no way does the product pay for itself, the artificial price created by a levy/tax is justified mostly because of the elimination of used tires from the landfill - both tonnage and fire hazard - meaning the environmental and real estate costs of a landfill are lower because it lasts whatever, 22 years instead of only 20 numbers like that (building a new landfill is quite expensive, the pit has to be lined and the leachate collected and trucked to waste disposal well if you don't want it going into the groundwater)

yes, they (Liberals, Greens, NDP) can't keep their hands off - we had a "revenue neutral" carbon tax for years in BC whatever came in from carbon tax was supposed to be deducted from other taxes (like sales tax and income tax) however, the Greens and NDP scrapped the revenue neutral aspect when they slithered into power, now it's just a cash grab - and combined with growing debt and constant deficits, even before the pandemic or natural disasters, the downward spiral continues, leaving grandchildren and great grandchildren to deal with it

I'm sure it goes into general revenues, and it's just gobbled up by bureaucratic inefficiency. The way it's supposed to help curb emissions is by making consumption more expensive. If you make consumption more expensive, people will reach a point where they simply do not consume any more of a given product. Thus it curbs demand overall. For people willing to pay more, it means that they can use the revenue to subsidize green programs but again. That likely gets eaten by government bloat.

The carbon tax reduces carbon emissions by making it to expensive to drive anywhere. That is all it does other than giving the Federal Government more $$

The carbon tax goes into a slush fund that the party in power can use as they see fit. It does not necessarily go into any green programs. It does not do anything to reduce consumption, because even you don't use gas, your groceries etc still get to the store via gas using trucks and therefore you get to spend more money there. It's all just a cash grab, but people are stupid and keep voting liberal anyhow.

Over the years we have greatly improved gas mileage on our vehicles , got rid of leaded gas , added cat.converters etc. and we have sent our factories to China where they use nice clean burning coal instead of hydro electricity or clean burning natural gas . We import billions of goods via oil burning ships that pollute our air and water . It's apparent the government will put the fear into us (again) and we will agree a carbon 'deterrent' tax is needed to lower our 2% contribution to changing the worlds climate .Trudeau is not the dummy here !
