I lost count of how many times I made up a brake pipe and forgot to slide the fitting on first 😅 It's very easy to overlook when your keen to get things finished. All looking great Mark... Looking forward to seeing you fit the battery and doing all those tests of wiring and ignition etc. My experience with oil coolers has been mixed.. If you use Penrite CLASSIC MINI 20W-50 (Mineral) , I'd advise fitting an oil temperature gauge or using Valvoline Racing 20/50 I'd fit an oil thermostat. Coolers make your oil pump work harder and you have to bare in mind the gearbox is using the same oil which has to be around 80 degrees to allow the engine and the synchro's to work efficiently. Apologies if you already know all this stuff.
Done that a few times myself Pete 😅. The oil cooler was always fitted to the Mk3 S as a standard feature. I've not ever had any issues with it on this or my Madgwick. I use the Swiftune Oil on both the swiftune engines too. Lets say the first start wasn't as simple as it should have been!
Hiya Mark-getting close now-looks superb. Hopefully might see your S and Keith's RG both up and running soon. I can remember when you could buy a set of twin SU carbs ready to fit for about £40 from a scrap yard, but then I am nearly 60! Keep well.
Hi Dave, thank you. Unfortunately it's not going to be ready for Himley Hall so i'll be going to that in the Madgwick. I may go to Stanford Hall so it will be ready for then!🙂
