To help with engine temp go for a lower thermostat say 76 degrees for the summer and also advance your timing 3 or 4 degrees more than manual States. Another tip is to run a little richer as this will wash the piston's to keep them a little cooler and increase compression. Nice job thanks
Hi Paul, really great basic advice there! I didn’t even think of such an easy fix during the warmer months. For those out there reading this and have played close attention to my mini, I have actually rerouted my washer jets to squirt water upon my radiator. I’ll definitely change the thermostat this summer and see how she performs, shall keep you posted mate 👍🏼
Gday mate, No it’s not required to drain the engine oil upon torment of the oil cooler. Just need to ensure that you top it up when the job is finished as the cooler will hold extra oil. Cheers, Tomo
Another great video there Tomo. Did you add some extra oil to compensate for the oil cooler or was there enough in the motor? Also, what is the main benefit of fitting an oil cooler?
Hi Simon, I checked the oil level afterwards and it wasn’t down as low as I thought. The old girl does leak a little oil so I’m topping it up quite regularly. The main benefit is to help keep the engine oil temperature cool in warmer conditions, especially when under higher loads. Thanks for the feedback mate 👍🏼
