Is throttle advance basically choke or idle screw? Never heard of it

Hey Jafeth! Yes, throttle advance is another term for a choke. The term "throttle advance" comes from the idea you are helping the carbs receive more fuel before you are opening the throttle with the actual throttle. "Choke" comes from the idea you are reducing the amount of air (choking something) compared to the richer fuel ratio. So both are words for the exact same thing. An idle screw will hold the throttle open a certain amount thus increasing or decreasing the idle RPMs. So that one is different.

Hi Kyle, I have a carbureted bike and a fuel Injected bike. It is winter time in India, the fuel Injected bike does not hesitate in starting while the carb one takes a bit of time to start and needs at least 3 to 4 cranks... Will this kill my bikes battery.. and using the choke every time will cause any harm to the bike?

Once the bike starts, the alternator will begin recharging the battery so it should be just fine. Easy rule of thumb is it will take an absolute maximum of 20 minutes to fully charge up a battery while driving around. But honestly you have to do the math for the voltage coming off your alternator, at how many amps and calculate that out compared to the capacity of your battery. So most bikes (even in winter) will recharge their batteries only about two minutes after starting.... but up to 20 minutes if you had a completely dead battery. It won't prematurely wear out your battery. And choking the bike when cold will not damage anything. Just remember to release the choke when the bike is warmed up so it will run better! Otherwise you will just be burning more gas than you need to and the RPMs will stay too high which is not a good idea. But don't worry about it, you will know when to release the choke.
