Aloha Dony! Me from Hawaii - again! Just curious, when you took the black cover (where the trottle cable attaches) off the carb, did you notice the small roller part? Could it be that it was not installed back when you put the carb back together? I believe that might of been the problem? On a slightly different note, I have never had much success with "re-using" the carb parts (diaphgram and gaskets) when ever I take one apart, so I just plan on changing it, so glad you tried that too. Tom

Good lesson : before I started working on these two cycle had my Stihl weedeater in one shop and they overhauled the carb , it lasted one season and the same thing started happening again. Well then I put it in the Stihl dealerships shop and they installed a new carb , they told me they hadn't had any luck with putting kits in them . So it cost more but on my third year with it with no trouble yet , so there's not that much difference in the price of the kit and labor cost verses the new carb . Been working on these two cycles and that what I've been telling the customers and the new Carbs I'm installing are fixing the problems and new gas lines and filters alone with them- cause most the time there usually from 5 to 8 year old units and the gas lines are failing by that age .Thanks again for your lessons they are very educational, we never get to old to learn either .

That carburetor has a hidden adjustment screw in it that's causing your problem. The screw is hidden inside the body of the carb under the little round brass piece sticking out of the carb body. Remove the brass piece and throw it away. Also remove the black plastic plug under the brass piece and discard it as well. Then you can see the VERY tiny adjustment screw down in the hole. Remove it and clean it and the passage it's in. Put it back in and screw it in all the way until it's snug then back it out half a turn. Put everything back together and start the machine. Adjust that tiny screw with the machine running at full throttle.

Donny, Have you ever tried using an ultrasonic cleaner to clean the carbs without the hi and low screws?

I noticed upon reassembly of the carburetor you had lost the little roller that ramps up the throttle barrel, the pin it sits on can be seen at 7:42. This will cause problems as poor acceleration/ dying as the throttle barrel will open but not ramp up and let more fuel out the emulsion tube.. Also, there is a high speed jet behind that brass fitting with the plastic inside it. The bushing comes out if you heat a screwdriver small enough to fit inside, heat the flat head that will fit with a propane torch until red hot then put it in the plastic so it will melt it. Then once it melts past you can unscrew the high speed jet and it will push the bushing right out. Now you can clean the high speed jet and you now have a high speed mixture adjustment. However, the bushing will NOT come out with the plastic primer base still attached, it will overhang. Learned all this the hard way. Fixed several of these carbs that wouldn't run right this way.

If the motor is past its break in period than you need to adjust your high speed jett as the gentleman in the above comment stated...remove the primer base and remove the restriction plug...(black in color) . this will more than likley bring your unit back to life. Let me know your results. These instructions are for a new carb on a older unit.

You didn't show how you cleaned out the fuel tank since when you emptied the original fuel out a bunch of debris came out too. I've had my share of tinkering with them. I just fix/tinker with my own equipment, but I'm at the point now where if a minimal amount of tinkering/cleaning/adjusting doesn't solve the problem I either buy a new carb, or whole new trimmer, blower, saw, etc...... whatever it may be.

Reason why there was water in the fuel was due to the ethanol drew moisture from the air and got mixed whit the fuel! I talked to some of mechanics at local repair shops where I live. They never rebult or fixes carbs on a 2 stroke engine any longer, they just replace them since the since the introduction of ethanol in unleaded gas, problems quickly arouse that the ethanol is eating up the internal parts and and moisture water promote corrosion inside aluminum carb making them non repairable!

Hi there donyboy73, Did you ever trace the problem? I know it was a lot larger but I had a mini car 1000 cc engine with exactly the same symptoms and it looked fine while apart but it had the tiniest of pin holes which stopped the vacuum working. What was the cost of this machine and the new carb? Keep making those great vidoes. Take care, mrbluenun

I just wanted to say, excellent video and to share with you my bogging problem on a PB-265. I had the same scenario with water in the fuel but noticed you did not remove the small mesh fuel filter. This is where I found the water, one small droplet and some slight corrosion. I soaked the carb body in carburetor fluid over night, blew out the holes, slapped it all back together and voila!

Hi. I just wanted to ask if you know anything about tractors? I have a Hinomoto E28 tractor and after using it was left in the 'ON' position. Battery went flat so gave it a charge. Went to crank it up but the oil light went on and engine would not turn. took out the old oil and put in new oil. This time the engine will turn but the oil light is still on. I'm scared to start it up because of the light. Do you know what I can do? Thanks!

Those rotary carbs are garbage. I've never rebuilt one that ran properly afterward. Most I see are in redmax blowers and Ryobi/Homelite equipment. Now I see them more often in Echo and Stihl products. Must be a really lean EPA compliant design. Don't even think of repairing a rotary carb, just get a new one and save all the labor costs. Your customers will thank you.

That is a rotary style carb. For some reason you see those often on backpacks. The high & low adjustment screws are different than what you find on the basic cube-style carb. Dony, did you try to adjust the old carb before you decided it was faulty? Sure would like to see you do a video on adjusting rotary carbs.

Oooops! You lost the tiny roller in that carburetor. At 4:48 you can see it's there. Right after you remove the black plastic part you can see the tiny roller in the carburetor body on the right side. It's a VERY tiny round metal piece that sits on a little pin. The rotating part of the throttle barrel rolls against it for smooth action. At 7:42 you can see it's missing right before you put the black plastic part back on.

wcjcnc you are spot on! That little roller is VERY tiny. If you don't look for it, you would never notice that it is missing. Not only does it ease the operation of the rotary slide but it changes how high the slide will come up. Its not much but its something. Some guys reading this may not think that little wheel is a big deal.Imagine that little wheel inside your engine. It's bye bye time for the engine because you didn't know to look for it. I have a Husqvarna 170BF backpack blower with same problem twice. First was a year ago then just last weekend. I purchased the unit new in 2009. Carb is a rotary walbro WYA64.The fuel filter is very similar to the one on the video and is a Walbro. Both times I fixed my blower simply by replacing the fuel filter. Even though it did not look dirty AT ALL it was restricting fuel. The unit would idle all day long but bog throttle applied. I am still suprised the fuel filter was they culprit.
