Cardi B leaving the courthouse during the $5M copyright infringement lawsuit in Santa Ana, CA. She spoke in Spanish to reporters and told them she can't talk about the trial until it was done and also took the opportunity to send a message to her Latin fanbase sending her love and thanking them for their support. The Bronx-born artist has Latin roots with her Dominican father, Carlos Arman, so it's no surprise she speaks fluent Spanish.
She is being sued by Kevin Michael Brophy who alleges he was humiliated when Cardi B used his back tattoo and imposed it on a different model for her racy debut album cover featuring the rapper with a man between her legs sporting the said tattoo. The Gangsta B***h Music artwork does not show the man's face but features a tattoo of a tiger battling a serpent photoshopped onto a model's back.
The Be Careful rapper allegedly got heated during the trial while being cross-examined by Brophy's lawyers, telling him: “It’s not Mr. Brophy. It don’t look like Mr. Brophy. You guys been harassing me for the $5 million, the money I worked my ass off with two kids these past years,” Cardi B argued. “It’s really insulting to me as a woman that a man is claiming responsibility in the lawsuit for all the success and work I had done and claiming that my success came from the portion of his tattoo when it’s my voice that made me famous since 2014!”, according to law website 'Above the Law'.
The arguments got so heated between the parties that judge Cormac J. Carney ordered Cardi B to answer Mr. Brophy's lawyer with "yes", "no", or "I can't answer that question" to avoid any more confrontations.
