I was a massive Cardiacs fan from 87 onwards, we supported them at this gig as it was a hometown gig for us, i never used to get nervous at gigs but i was shitting myself before this gig, i had no need to be nervous because they were all so lovely, i was so lucky to support Half Man Half Biscuit a few months later too, i used to DJ at the venue before and after the band too but couldn't get anywhere near the decks because of the gear and camera set up so i just got pissed instead on free beer , i was a lucky man 😎

OMG this is amazing! A bit of drink, a bit of something else, some headphones, and I am lost in the exquisite world of Tim and his merry consort. THANK YOU for posting this gem. Tim is still the best!!
I DID have a dog called Sparky. Years ago. He was a wire haired terrier that wore a long path in the garden that took years to recover after his death. Crawling was his world as well as running.
I missed this gig but saw them the next night at The Roadhouse in Manchester. Following a truly outstanding performance the band were kind and generous enough to sit with myself and a couple of friends, as we drank, smoked and talked all things music and all things thing for a couple of hours. Outstanding musicians, incredible band, some of the most decent homo sapiens I ever had the pleasure to meet. R.I.P. Tim, long live Cardiacs.
@@KieranFunzig I've seen a few mentions of it on the interweb, alas Google did not provide any clues as to where I may find it. Any pointers or clues would be much appreciated. P.S. Now that I think of it, there was a certain sound engineer at The Roadhouse in the mid-late 1990's who seemed to take soundboard recordings of many (possibly most) of the gigs there. I have to wonder if that was the source...
I don't know about a soundboard but the Roadhouse recording is very clear audience recording taped by Tarquin who also recorded Bolton. While that is good Roadhouse is much better. It is still on Dime but you will need to register. If it says that there are too many members then try again on the hour and at 10 minute intervals after that until you get a slot www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=685132&hit=1
@@KieranFunzig Thanks very much. I attended with a good friend (the person who first exposed me to Cardiacs, he was a hardcore fan since their first release) and he passed away a few years ago. I look forward to hearing that show again and taking a bittersweet walk down memory lane.
Brill, thanks mate! I'm guessing you were in Funzig? I recall you guys at an Organ gig at the Marquee, (I think?), with Lecky Head and Popocatepetl in the 90s. Still have your 'MoreFishLike' tape somewhere.
We played Samuel Beckett's once or twice but not the Marquee. We also supported Cardiacs in St Helens so you may have seen that one and got the tape there.
Great setlist! I actually kinda prefer the live version of Insect Hoofs on Lassie they play. I think the rhythm on the chorus contrasts great with the rest of the song.
Cardiacs release maybe best UK double album ever, play your local. Oasis release coked up overdubbed shite single album, play Wembley. England you don't GET it do ya?
