This pattern uses US terminology
This pattern is rated easy to intermediate and requires some basic pattern reading skills.
These cardigan sweaters make great birthday and shower gifts and are perfect for the colder weather.
The following materials are used:
DK/8ply yarn and a G/4mm crochet hook
Worsted/10ply yarn and an I/5.5mm crochet hook
tape measure
buttons (optional)
The following stitches are used:
chain, double crochet, single crochet, single crochet decrease, half double crochet decrease, half double crochet, slip stitch.

hi, i have just found my size shoulder to shoulder measuring 19+inches, using the same pattern as this. from your written pattern, i use 8mm hook n 2 strands of 8ply or dk yarn. i chain 92 stitches and work d same but when comes to d dc, ch 1, dc, i use the 3rd number from the bracket.

Hello Dawn, yes you can make it with 4 ply, i would make 1 size bigger than you need to accommodate for the thinner yarn - I am asuming you are talking about the UK?AUS 4ply ? If you are talking about 4ply USA you will need to make a size smaller than needed because the yarn is thicker

Clare when u doing the increase V, I call it that, do.work into the stitch beside the chain 1 space, and do another increase which is dc ch1 dc? Also the next stitch right beside the increase, do u skip it or also work into that stitch too. Thanks Cat

Have you ever tried doing a puff stitch, ch 1, puff stitch in place of the (dc, ch 1, dc)? I'm just curious if that would change the measurements too much?

Hello, I have not tired it myself, but I think that it will not change the measurements to much, the puff stitch is bigger than just the one dc but not so big that it will make a HUGE difference, just keep an eye on your measurements :)

hello sankar, once you have made enough of the top part of the body you can measure the length of 1 single row to see how many rows will be needed for the size you are making. this will also depend on your yarn and hook used as well as your tension. for example, once you have finished seperating for the sleeves you can measure one the the rows on the back of the cardigan. example if one single row measure 1/2" and you need to make a total of 8 inches for your cardigan then you would need to crochet a total of 16 rows for the body of the cardigan.

Hi Clare..in Spore ..spotlight store sells yarn..ACRYLIC 100%.Either 8ply 12ply..how would i know which is DK n which is 12ply or 10ply Worsted weight yarn as it does not indicate on the label...i am confused about this. Thanks

Help! I'm a new crocheter and your pattern says 8 or 10 ply which means how many strands in a piece of yarn. Is that what you meant? Or are you using ply and weight interchangeably? Also I'd be helpful if you showed the label of the yarn you use. Great fantastic pattern by the way.....so far. I'm not done yet.

Hello Kimberly, here is Australia we say ply, this means the thickness of the yarn and not necessarily the amount of stands in the one piece of yarn - I know it is confusing Do our 8ply is the same as DK (double knitting) or a light worsted weight yarn. If you have seen red heart shimmer yarn that is the same thickness as out 8ply I used red heart super saver yarn and it was supplied by Redheart, I couldn't show you the label of the other yarn because it will affect my sponsorship :) The white yarn at the 9 minute 45 seconds is the yarn i used in this video Hope this helps and welcome to crochet

i spoke about 2 sizes and then explained about the yarn that was used to show the difference in size with different yarns. the video then states that you can fast forward if you are familiar with reading pattern.
