Appreciate that! He was never the same going to the AL. Mid career greed I guess. Cards just couldn’t pay the mega bucks. It was a stupid gamble by Angels in my opinion. 10 years to a 32 year old? We are so glad he’s home to close out his final chapter.
@@cstbrent81 Mo let Albert walk because after his 2nd WS title, he saw Albert was in his decline phase, and gave him the best offer he could. Albert declined and went to Anaheim(at the time) What he didn't realize is that of EVERY game played in Anaheim, 51% of his total earnings came out in Cali's absolutely STUPID tax rate. So Albert essentially made less than HALF that 254mil he was assured. Who won that decision? And on the bright side, because Albert walked we were able to re-sign Yadi back then
@@frederickglass1583 and keep Holiday too. It’s just a bummer, very loveable teammate and would’ve loved to see all new career Cardinal records but most likely Stan will keep the 475 Cardinal HR title. I don’t even see Albert getting 15 this year as DH. Nothing but outs yesterday but he is making contact.
Fun fact, as this introduction is going on I'm working as an Engineer at the Hilton across the street & used my 15 minute break to get on the roof behind the Hilton sign and watch this live. Planned it so well & got back to my work in time😊
I got more choked up about Yadi. Yadi and Waino have been the face of the franchise ever since 2012. Can't forget all the greats...us Cardinal fans are some of the luckiest fans in baseball. 2022 will be the most memorable for this team ..and for us.
I was so glad to have had him with the Dodgers for the short time that he was here. But he belongs in St Louis and I am happy for those fans who absolutely love him.
Dodgers fan here,I have nothing but respect and admiration for the Cardinals organization,3 of the greatest players to ever play the game,Molina to me is top 5 greatest catchers,Pujols looks so right in a Cardinals uniform he didn't look right in Los Angeles for both Teams and mine unfortunately cuz he's the greatest in my book total icon,I'm talking like Ken Griffey Jr or even Babe Ruth in regards to seeing this once in a lifetime,And Wainwright holy cow his record speaks for itself all three first ballot easily
He’s a legend and what a gesture by St Louis to bring him back in his last season and let him go out on a high. Not many people can do that. He will always go by Sir Albert to me. He’s royalty in baseball.
Is this heaven? No, it’s Missouri. Ahhh baseball back in baseball heaven. The Lou!!! Albert, you should’ve never left but get the 700, get us another title and hang up your shoes….The HALL is calling soon.
These 3 men are the cardinals best players and with a 9-0 smacking of the Pirates earlier today, this is going to be a season for the record books! #WORLDSERIESBOUND
Tyler O'Neil looks like he may be the next great one. And I traded him last year in my fantasy league, which I'm still banging my head against a wall for
@@k-dawgbroadcasting5444 Don't feel too bad. Remember Ozuna who was on the Cardinals team till they traded him to Atlanta?.. i was smacking my hands into the wall for a week for that
@@k-dawgbroadcasting5444 He left StL for one extra year and $40 million dollars. That's a bigger breach of etiquette. Of course, he set back the Angels 10 years, but who cares? He's back. You think you're the Major Domo? More like the major dummo...
Hahaha ha. How many of these haters hated him and called him greedy welcome Albert back? I hated to see him go but never called him greedy. Welcome back Albert, I can't wait to catch a few live games this year.
@@TheBatugan77 Greedy? If your boss is paying you 50k a year, but company c offers you 250k a year for the same job, are you greedy for accepting 250k or just smart?
Yea i would type more but whats the point. Why did he leave St. Louis if it was not for money and length of contract (meaning more money)? You can argue he was going for his deserved value.. thats a subjective amount, what is objective is he left everything for the option that offered only more cash in exchange, now define greed Eitherway the "haters" were very much just as upset at the organization. They were upset he left. But decent fans will ALWAYS respect what you do for their team. These haters have cheered for Pujols every at bat as in opponent over these years.
@@wolfgineer9340 well also if company c is located closer to a beach and my wife wanted to go, it makes it easier to "be greedy " . Lol. Cardinals fans are the best and most of them did cheer through the years. Happy him and Molina get to retire Cardinals.
@@petek7217 If my.boss is offering me $200 million for 9 years, and someone is offering me $240 mil for ten... And I had a choice of StL or Anaheim, I'd stay. Your comparison is ca-ca. 💩💩
Ok why am I crying?! I guess it is because I am die hard cardinal fan and I live in Charlotte nc and can't see this in real life. 3 players who are in the top 5 in my book as the best cardinal players
I don’t think baseball and it’s fans have ever truly appreciated Albert Pujols like they should. You are not gonna see another hitter like him ever again. Nothing even close for a very long time to come if ever.
@@watchmanonthewall14 I remember St. Louis booing him when he returned there playing against them. And before he was traded that organization wasn’t good to him. Just my opinion and from what I remember. Also he was snubbed out the All-Star game a couple years, one time for an extra relieve pitcher. 🤦♂️
@@iliketocomment8144 Well, it looks like they kissed and made up. I LOVED his return to St. Louis after 8 years, when he hit a home run as an Angel. The fans went absolutely bonkers. Got a wild ovation, and then he had to do a curtain call. I am not from the area, but he has been my favorite player since his rookie year. Cheers.
I get tired of reading comments about how Pujols was “greedy”. Why doesn’t anyone ever say that about an owner (especially DeWitt, but I digress)? The special ones, like Pujols, only really get one chance to nail that mega-contract in their career. Anyone who begrudged him a single one of Arte Moreno’s dollars is clueless. Going to the AL when he did probably let him play the last 5 years (remember that if the NL hadn’t adopted the DH, he probably doesn’t get to come back this year, even).
I know this the greatest sport on earth the game of base ball is a business but you only come across players once in awhile that belong to one team one uniform one franchise and pujols in my mind is one of those players he may have played for another franchise in his career but he was and is always ment to be a cardinal .
Let's see if he can match the Babe's 1935 numbers. Six homers, .181 BA, and .350+ OBP. He probably won't sniff the OBP. But you'll still sniff AP's jock. 👃💩
Go sir molina sochguchi and the guy who swears he's gonna do it, thee emonds Russo and the guy who steals bases....go cards the whole team hope you got my call I know you did piano slims grandaughter
This Opening Day made Chicago's look like an absolute JOKE. Told someone at the bar while watching Chicago's, "watch St. Louis sell out Busch ENTIRELY for Waino, Yadi, and Pujols alone today. Chicago can only dream to be as historic as STL"
@@k-dawgbroadcasting5444 lmao that what I was saying you didn't see no stupid ass black lives matter bullshit. They kept dumbass politics out of it. That's why baseball is the best.
