He also talks about how he predicted that he would play for Japan when he was in Little League and how he hosted Japan's High School National team when he was kid. He also shares his favorite Adam Wainwright, Yadier Molina, Albert Pujols stories and that he may or may not play with range balls when he plays golf.

@wilkesmcdermid7906
@wilkesmcdermid7906 Год назад
@@MrTwessel30 He likely has citizenship. Cause Japan doesnt allow non-citizens to represent their national teams in sports. Before anyone think Japan is being xenophobic, nearly all countries including the Canada, UK, and USA has this rule as well. I remember Japanese national team in the World Cup in the early 2000s there were two Brazilian-born players who played for Japan, one was an Afro-Brazilian who became a naturalized Japanese citizen and the other had Japanese citizenship thru his Japanese father.
@ErichVonCartmann
@ErichVonCartmann Год назад
@Wilkes McDermid , that is NOT how it works in International Competition. Lars is NOT a Japanese Citizen. His mom is Japanese and she was born in Japan, and that is why he is allowed to play for Japan. You only need to have a parent that is Citizen of a particular country to represent that country in International Competition. Lars was asked by the Japanese National Team to play for them, and he accepted. He is the first non-Japanese Citizen to represent team Japan.
@seanvandelay7955
@seanvandelay7955 Год назад
@@ErichVonCartmann Exactmund Eric. Lars' nationality is US citizen and not Japanese. But WBC eligibility allows him to represent Japan (or U.S) What Ben and most Japanese (including me) appreciate is he proudly chose to represent Japan like he was saying " I am Japanese !" when he was little league kid. For that, I also appreciate this country USA so much for its ethnic diversity and people all together.

I'm very sad this guy is in Japan national team. He doesn't speak Japanese, he doesn't have japanese nationality. His mother is Japanese only. If his father is white, then he is white. WTF. He’s been playing a huge role for Japan. It seems that everyone in Japan loves him and he’s worked hard to make it on that team, he wasn’t just given a spot. He deserved it and he’s been representing Japan greatly and he has a lot of respect for the country, the team and the fans. He’s also Japanese-American, him being Caucasian doesn’t change the fact that he’s part Japanese.

masin is speaking the truth. I can confirm it. Lars has demonstrated through games that he shares our Japanese spirits. It doesn’t matter if he speaks Japanese or where he was born. As a Japanese myself, I’m thankful that he chose to be on team Japan. So is everyone in Japan. If you think it’s disrespectful for him to represent Japan, then you’re being disrespectful not only towards our couch of team Japan for picking him over other players but also towards us Japanese.
