So for those wondering why they can't do it, one of the biggest factors might be the deck itself. I have a cheap deck that I use for practice, the deck is thicker than what I'm accustomed to and lo and behold, the faro is the only trick I can't pull off, but the moment I switch to a better deck the faro becomes so simple to do it feels like I second nature. Other than that, idk, you might be putting too much pressure on the cards

OMG! Thank you, thank you. I have been trying to do this Faro shuffle for 3 weeks now, and I have been following other RU-vid tutorials that didn't work. I have been a subscriber of yours during that time but somehow missed this particular video of yours till today. Watching this video just once, I managed to accomplish my very first Faro shuffle and it looked exactly like yours! While watching the rest of this tutorial video, I managed to do 3 more perfect Faro shuffles! Your instruction here was pure gold. The number one mistake I had been making all this time, is not leaving enough space open on the right hand side like a 15 degree opening. That made all the difference and what allowed me to accomplish the most difficult card shuffle I have tried to date. Thank you again for this masterclass in the Faro shuffle. (By the way, I finally managed to score the elusive blue Ventus cards you use here in this video and your other tutorials. I have been trying to find these for a while now and was lucky to discover an eBay seller who was offering them. Like your Contra Edition Venuts' they are incredible and handle like a dream).

@NocturnalJin
@NocturnalJin 2 года назад
@@Ascyt OK, I still suck at this, but from what I can tell, it's important that the two halves make as little contact as possible so you minimize the places where the cards can obstruct each other. The cards need to stay flush but fingers aren't flat and the force used tends to make them get uneven. Don't even try it if they aren't flush. You'll just bend your cards out of shape. Also, the deck you use matters. The newer, thinner, and slicker, the better. Once you've failed enough times, the cards will get bent and make it harder to do the shuffle, so have a few packs and rotate them, packing the used ones tight so they get pressed back into shape (or sandwich them in something hard and use a vise or rubber bands). Keep in mind, I'm an uber-noob and my advice isn't worth much.

You just need to practice. I learned Faro in about 2 weeks of practicing. Here's a key point: when you press the two halves together, the cards should interleave automatically just from applying the right pressure. You are not doing it "so well that you are able to interleave every card" by yourself. The cards just do it. The interleaving of cards is done due to the way the cards are cut. The edges have bevels/curves so they "slide/fall into place" automatically. Just pressing the two deck halves together they will interleave by themselves. You just have to get the pressure right and the angle. There is no way to explain this, it is muscle memory and fine muscle control that just comes after practice. But once you learn it, you cannot forget it. You will always just do it. Like riding a bike. You cant forget how & suddenly not be able to ride. Do not get discouraged at first. The first few days it will be a total mess, but if you keep at it, you'll wake up the next day and suddenly, as if by magic, you're sort of able to do it. Keep practicing, and one day you will try it and magically it just works. It's very interesting. You cannot describe exactly how, it is muscle memory/fine control you cannot explain. Same thing with Riffle Shuffle. I had no fine control and my hands were aching and had small blister spot at first. After a few days and my hands aching bad, I wake up and my hands feel normal. And I try it and magically I'm able to do it significantly better. After a few more of these, suddenly I was able to do it. You have to keep practicing and you will fine tune the shuffle. But the basic/core ability comes on quickly after about a week or so. Wash your hands with soap and dry them fully before you practice, and do not get the deck dirty or wet, and a single deck will last you indefinitely. I have a basic Bike deck thats a year old and clean, handles perfectly. These basic cards are very high quality actually, we dont realize how good they are. They are simply cards so we take it for granted. But USPCC has been making cards since the 1800s and they handle so damn well. No comparison to junk playing cards from a dollar store which don't Faro and are garbage. (I am not talking about ex-casino used cards which are totally legit. But those are made differently and may not handle well for cardistry). A broken in deck of Bikes is very satisfying to hold and shuffle. And they do not break down as long as you are clean and dry while handling!

Listen to me please I have 8 different deck of cards from various type. Bicycle, Uno, game cards, the highest price is red Bicycle around 48 bucks. But why I can't even do faro at all? Is it the problem with cards? Cuz my cards seems do not want to separate at all. I HAVE BEEN PRACTISING THIS SINCE THE START OF LOCKDOWN.

Weaving together works very well. Good tutorial. But the spring is not going smoothly. The cards are rather together gliding away.

im having trouble riffling it to the other hand at the end. The hand I'm doing the bridge in keeps catching all the cards instead of letting them move over

Learned it within half an hour, quite tricky but you have to follow this tutorial EXACTLY.

I find the Faro shuffle to be very natural and easy, much easier than a tabled riffle shuffle.

Ok, after a couple of hours of practice, I actually can do it fairly easily. What I still don't know is how it works, tough. Feels like I'm not doing anything differently than when I started... cards are weird, man.

Get a smooth deck of cards. It made it easier for me to pull off the shuffle

Not gonna lie, I just got it FIRST TRY sitting at my desk while exporting a video for work, and it's 5;30 in the afternoon. I was watching this video while eating breakfast earlier this morning, wondering "I wonder how you faro shuffle?" I have ZERO cardistry experience and I nailed it first try. I gotta pursue this!!

I just did 3 more Faro shuffles after writing this comment, ranging from a little sloppy to near perfect. That shuffle is soooo satisfying!! Ok, it's a sign for me to get into cardistry. Wish I got started doing this as a kid.

Use a top-quality deck? But how do you divide the deck into exactly 26 cards each?
