Care Guide on Monstera Sp Peru or Monstera Karstenianum or Epipremnum marble planet 🤔🤔🤔

As you might be able to tell my the title, to say this Monstera has a bit of an identity crisis, would be a bit of an understatement.
However, regardless of whether you call it Sp Peru (what I call it) or Epipremnum marble planet, it doesn't negate the fact that this plant is both unusual and very cool.
I talk about my experience growing, propagating, lighting requirements and pest pressures of this plant.
Callout to anyone out there who has grown this to a different stage of maturity (not even sure if there is one) let me know 😜

There is now a few pictures of fully mature plants from tropical growers but no inflorescences. The leafs keep their texture but get a few fenestrations that become full lacerations with full maturity.

I have a Monstera Peru. I got it as a one leaf cutting about for months ago. It is leca and has grown to 4 foot on a plant. I love this plant.

Mine grew slowly until I cut it back to a few leaves. It then sent a few shoots out all at once and is growing nicely! I have 3 cuttings growing (very slowly) now… And the mother plant is making its way up the second stacked moss pole with a few branches.

Interesting...for me it's been a very fast growing plant so far. I've had it for about 2 months now and it's grown 7-9 leaves (even though it's fall)!

@@Houseplantygoodness Nothing special really...maybe I'm just lucky. It's in a north facing window, I try not to water it too often, I clean the leaves somewhat regularly. That's about it! Pretty basic plant care

Might I ask what kind of substrate you have it planted in, and what fertilizer you use / how often? I'm rooting a cutting I bought, and I'd like to enjoy a decent plant before I'm having to list it in my will. 😋

@@premeditatio I have it in a soil mixture with perlite and orchid bark added in. I don't use any special kind of fertilizer (it's a Dutch brand, since I'm from the Netherlands). Hope that helps!

Thinking about putting mine into an aroid mix (from Leca). It’s grown 3 leaves in one year. ^^

I have my Monstera Peru attached to a piece of wood board and surprisingly its leaves do not get bigger as it climbing up.

Very nice! The actual name is Philodendron opacum 'Green Goddess' and they are not a Monstera. Per Key Gardens, the world's authority on tropical plant names, Monstera karstenianum is a nomen nudum or invalid name in any case. There are three different Monstera called "Peru" and that is just a provenance name, not a cultivar name.

.. To my surprise it has been one of my easiest plants to this day.. I just love the big "bumpy" leafs, as big as a man's hand, and really likes to climb.. When getting a little wild I made it a solid moss pole, and shoo did it climb happily.. It is easy to propagate too.. I repottet mine in a terracotta pot and took off the very strange soil it was in, and gave it my own aroid mix.. .. This one has been a wee little tricky on the info, as there isn't much to know.. Nobody have ever seen it with fenestated leaves, and nobody really knows how big the leaves are when matured, other than as big as a bears foot.. As you said, it likes bright indirect light, something to climb, and a good aroid mix, and it is as happy as can be..

I have 3 diff plants. All were quite fast. One is climbing up a picture frame and is happy as a clam. I tried a cocoa choir pole with some moss. Grows up but does not root in. Prefers my wall.

Oh well I disagree with everything you've said lol. I grow mine in 50% cacti soil and 50% pumice in a non draining pot. It's in a sheltered southfacing window. The leaves of mine is much darker than yours and it grows fast! I do let it dry out. I had it in pure pumice when I first received it and it wasn't happy and the leaves looked more like yours, lighter green.

Do you, by chance, have a epipremnum skeleton key? If so, do you have any advice on them? I'm not trying to be co#cky but out of over 200 plants I have, it's the only one that I have trouble growing. I've tried legit everything I've seen online short of dancing around it naked to make it grow -____- It just like stuck in stasis with two vines that are about 2 feet long each. And the leaves keep dying before they can get big enough to do that neat skeleton key thing they do. It's a long shot but worth asking. Love your videos!

I’ve had mine for a few months! The roots weren’t too strong and had a curly leaf! I put it on a moss pole to add stability and the leaf rotted along with a new leaf that was attempting to grow! So I cut them both and haven’t gotten any new growth! I love this plant but am bored with it and am waiting for something tragic to happen because I honestly don’t know how to care for it 😣

From my experience, in the U.S., even recently it is still not super easy to find and the price tag is higher as well😕 I've wanted one for quite a while, but because of its reputation for being a slow grower, I was trying to hold out for a more full plant...that still hasn't happened. All of the listings for larger pots are still WAY too expensive. I know that some people have gotten lucky and found them at nurseries for a better price, but unfortunately I'm not one of those😭
