Carey Hart dowing impossible - he lands FIRST EVER Back Flip on motorcycle. And sinse that time tricks become even seeker ! ! ! Watch HOW it was land the FIRST TIME !
First backflip in 2000, first double backflip in 2006, and now first triple backflip in 2015.. Just to think people thought a single backflip was impossible 15 years ago
yes but nowadays it's more about precise engineering of the distances and speed, autoCad projecting on a PC about the inclination of the take-off, total lenght of the landing, etc. back then he got only a natural ramp and his own balls ;) Respect for him
I was FUCKING THERE. I looked this up just for the nostalgia. This is in Providence, RI during the gravity games. He did it after the competition so it was off the record. I was 8 years old. Got my first dirt bike at 6. Watching this almost brings me to tears. ahh the memories
Yeah people can do doubles now but he paved the way and that's what's important. Once someone does it it's easy, but to be the first is a real challenge
It bottomed out the suspension. It was virtually impossible to land and keep riding after a flip like that, with the suspension configuration the bikes at that time were using. It's still amazing to watch considering there was no baseline for him to practice with, no video footage for him to study or reference, and no knowledge of how the suspension should be configured for that type of stunt.
@@tiitkrutto4507 Yeah, god this it the first person with the courage and skill to try it and the first time anyone saw it, of course they flipped out. Ever see video of people reacting to the first time a monster truck crushed cars? All it did was get up on the cars at 5 mph and the whole stadium went bananas.
I was there front row. Providence water place. I remember there being a rumor all day that he was gonna try it and seeing him do it was so surreal at the time. This moment is what opened the door for all the crazy shit you see today. Back then the biggest tricks around were the Kiss of death and the Cordova. The riders like Mad Mike Jones, Brian Deegan, The Flyin Hawaiian Clifford Adoptante, and Mike Metzger were the creators of FMX and this moment right here was the bridge to the guys of today who are doing stuff on a dirtbike nobody in 2000 would ever dream possible.
Wow dude your so lucky to be there. It’s crazy how now a days a double backflip is standard in competition. This was an absolutely mind blowing event that paved the way for FMX and you are so lucky to have witnessed this in person!!!
wow the first ever backflip which is now an every day trick for famous FMX'ers. its hard to believe how the back flip has come so far all starting with this one dude. its all amazing how this was a first time trick and now it used all the time in competitions
For all of you saying that Jose Yanez was the first one to backflip a motocross, you are absolutely right.. It was pretty incredible back then and he absolutely deserves all the credits and recognitions for all of his bike and motorcycle exploits and i'm sure he was a huge inspiration for many after.. HOWEVER he used to practice by jumping in a river and most of his stunts was for his job at the circus.. His famous landed backflip was on a 8' tall jump that he built himself while riding a 80cc.. So yeah.. Almost 10 years later Carey Heart was the first who brought the backflip to a 250cc + while in a competition. He might have not landed perfectly but still.. The dude had huge fucking balls and he forever changed freestyle motocross that day. I mean once it happened there was no going back.. Half of the riders retired not long after and the other half had to step up their game real fast. He also deserves 100% credit for that and I'm tired of people who's trying to take that away from him. They both deserves credit.. It's called progression it's called improvement.
Just remember this was the first time it'd ever been done. Many said it was impossible since it'd bottom out the suspension of the bikes at the time, potentially causing severe injury to the wrists and spine since the impact might not be softened enough with the suspension bottoming out. So this is really as good as you could expect it to look at the time, especially with no baseline to go by or practice with.
I've just found from another comment that he wasn't the first. Incredibly a guy Jose Yanez was the first to do it, many years before this judging by the footage and bike he did it on.
People now don’t realize; foam pits weren’t a thing back then. So if you wanted to learn a new trick on a dirt bike, you had three choices: 1) set up a lake jump and learn it on a bmx bike first. Then try to translate that trick to a motocross bike 2) fuck your dirt bike up over and over jumping it into a lake instead. 2) Just fucking go for it on dirt. For Carey Hart to attempt this trick was completely insane, and it revolutionized the sport of freestyle mx forever. For years, no one though these kinds of tricks could actually be done on mx bikes. And he just said, piss on it. Imma go for it.
Yes people were using foam pits back then..... you make it sound like this was the 70s.... what are you talking about?..... and he's not even the first person to land a backflip on a dirt bike..... Caleb Wyatt is..... you can look it up if you don't believe me..... I met him at the X Games in 2004 and there was a whole documentary about him Landing the first ever backflip on a dirt bike
Why would you say something like for years people didn't even know something like this was possible he's not even the first person to do it..... there were people trying it for years leading up to it being landed successfully..... Mike Metzger was trying it lots of people were trying it and Caleb Wyatt is the first person to ever land a successful backflip on a dirt bike..... you can look that up..... so I don't know why you're saying what you're saying because maybe you think it sounds good or something but it's not true cuz you can actually look up what I'm saying
In 1991, Jose Yanez became the first person to backflip a motocross bike. He practiced for it by flipping his motorcycle into the Salt River, just as he had done with his BMX bike. (internet)
that changed the world. orthopedic surgeons made billions after that day. they damn sure made money off me! cary made his place in history and earned it!
I think everyone who acts like this isn't a big deal forgets that this was before anyone even thought about using a foam pit. This guy literally just HUCKED himself into a backflip when no one even thought it was possible. I remember playing video games back then and doing backflips on dirtbikes thinking "this is sooooo unrealistic". Lol.
Well no that is not correct at all he's not even the first person to ever land a backflip on a dirt bike because Caleb Wyatt is the first person to ever land a backflip on a dirt bike..... I met him at the X Games in 2004..... so yes people were trying it for a long time he didn't just try it on the dirt out of nowhere..... people were trying it for a long time on foam pits..... but once again Caleb Wyatt was the first person to ever successfully land a backflip on a dirt bike..... you can look it up if you don't believe me so I don't know where you get the idea that he just hooked himself in the air out of nowhere and this is before anybody ever thought of using a foam pit..... but you're just completely making that up because that's not true
First backflip, now we're at the triple backflip. Funny thing about certain skills is once someone does the 'impossible' it soon becomes possible then mundane. Happens in skateboarding, and BMX as well as musical instrument playing.
Listen to how intense these announcers make it for a fucking backflip... Now dudes do a tsunami double backflip no hander lander and the announcers like: "solid".
Funny thing is, even today this would still be impressive. Not in a competition of course because of the shit people are doing nowadays, but it's still crazy to think of flipping a dirtbike
I can't believe these times were so long ago now. Feels like just yesterday. I miss the early 2000s. Life was good back then no cellphones and just a different way of living and thinking all together. People were better
The crowd is absolutely going fucking wild here for a single backflip yet Josh Sheehan pulls a double backflip no handed at Shanghai 2019 in best trick and the crowd is silent. Just goes to show how far this sport has come when a double flip no handed gets nothing these days.
that backflip set in motion in the immense pressures riders faced to perform. a lot of guys like Clifford Adoptane, Dane Kinard, disappeared, that flip, stopped freestyle motorcross being just a fun expression session, and the person who first did it in competition received so much backlash and just wouldn't wrap their head around that he would of never landed it as he fell from 3 stories and landed to flat. so they pressured him. and pressured him until he broke. he had a broken collarbone in the process of being repaired, he signed up for Xgames on the night. as he went up the ramp whick was 8ft of Vert his hand slipped off the bike he had to bail and fell that same 3 stories as in Gravity Games and took it straight to his body, and it went from yeah he's gonna finally do the backflip to a Son lying on the dirt barely moving and a Father crying. and a lot of people ended up like that
Pro BMX Dirt Jumper TJ Lavin lived right next door to him in Las Vegas, that's why he could pull this...TJ Lavin had a Foam Pit at his house & he taught Carey to pull the backflip on a BMX Bike & then Carey Pulled it on his CR250R...The LIGHTEST motocross bike there was at the time, because of the Aluminum Frame...I couldn't adapt to the Aluminum Frame, I got on a CR125R in 1997 w/ the Aluminum Frame, & I switched to Yamaha right after
Knowing what we know now. If you look back at the physics of this. The way the ramp is angled, just the lean back is going to begin the rotation of the bike. This was thought impossible but now there is a triple backflip
At the start all the presenters sounds almost staged the way they were setting this up as some massive thing. But when I saw the reactions of his peers you knew it was a big deal.
The first ever backflip was in 1991..jose yanez...way way before fmx..but this is the golden era of fmx..which is way cooler guys on a dirtbikes and carzy tricks.
@3:53 The girl doing the interview pulled her hand on his shoulder and looked she wouldn't let him go. When she suddenly realized Pink was certainly around and would smack her face lol
Wow people thought a backflip was not possible. Travis Pastrana changed all that. So when are we gonna see a triple backflip it's only a matter of time😄👍
+Teague Atkıns someone might land it a cpl times...but....like they say in the new Nitro Circus video...you have to go so hard...so damn high.....i think that if they continue pursuing that (and God forbid this to happen) there will be several people severely hurt or worse when they start trying it on sand/dirt/padded dirt/whatever.
+Teague Atkıns Also....I believe either Travis STOPPED trying or is NOT trying this trick at all. He walked away from it. Due to so many concussions and whatever else....one more serious knock and he would be a (no disrespect to anyone) vegetable or worse.
Caleb Wyatt was the first person to successfully land a backflip on a dirt bike I met him in 2004 at the X Games..... this was the first backflip that they say was successfully landed in competition but I don't call that successfully landed
@MXFAN512 well travis pastrana is thinking about bringing a triple back flip to x games best trick and is for sure throwing down the 720 again. mark monea might bring his front flip 360 even though it looks like a whiped out front flip
He also invented a new trick.... I'd call it the wave catcher. He looked like a surfer waiting for the tide to come in on a surf board after he landed lol
3:53 that reporter just wanted to touch him. Lol. I would! P!nk...I'm so envious of you. Actually, I'm envious of them both!!! Such a loving couple, I love you two!!
#CareyJasonPhillipHart best motocross racer ever..........and he's wifey #AleciMoore is the best Billboards woman of the year...i watched this before and i'm still amazed
