You are awesome and your collection is awesome. I am a huge fan as well. Wish I can get this old collection someday. I am 35 years old now and a practicing doctor. Please think its silly when I tell them these are my favorite comics. No matter how old you get and how much education you do these are hands down the best comics ever created and you're never too old for them.

Amazing collection and retrospective! I’m interested to know if you have any of The Complete Carl Barks Library volumes that Fantagraphics has been publishing since 2011? I personally love those volumes and I was interested to know if you personally like Fantagraphics’ releases or these ones that you have in this video more?

I'm Italian and here they have published two volumes of the Complete Carl Barks Library by Fantagraphic's in 2013. Last November, three other volumes have been published, but we Italian readers don't know if they'll go on. I think and I hope that they'll do, I love those volumes too, for an European Barks-lover is simply amazing to read Barks stories without censorship and the original American colors!

@@reclusive78 It was released in the 1980s and took me Thirteen years to collect. It is released by Another Rainbow. I really enjoy the essays collected in the ten CBL volumes.

The Istari Yes i'm aware. I was a kid back in the 80's. I had a collection of comics that was a cynosure of other kids. As i got older and busy with college, comics took a backseat and so did my collection until one day i discovered that they were destroyed by termites. I grew nostalgic and started collecting/reading comics again a few years back. I cant believe how expensive comics are today compared to back in the 80's and 90's. I love Carl Barks he's a legend. I grew up reading his duck stories and no other Disney artist/writer can compare to him.

@@reclusive78 Thank you! I received the third volume of Uncle Scrooge. the set had three books contained within it. My mom thought she bought me the entire library with the purchase of the third volume. My birthday present sent me on a decade long journey to obtain the rest of the collection. Mom says if she knew what she was starting she wouldn't have bought the books. The images within are black and white with a couple of color comics being exceptions, I love the picture with Carl and Spielberg together in volume 9. What made you a fan of Carl's?

What do you think of the Fantagraphics releases compared to the Carl Barks Library by Another Rainbow?

I do enjoy the reprints, especially since they try to reproduce it like the original issues with the original colors. Barks had an issue with the size of the original Library and would have preferred this smaller version of his comics. The collection is completely uncensored. The censorship of Barks made me very anti-censorship and very pro-first amendment. I am all about the right to free speech. Seeing the original stories makes a reader and an artist like myself very happy. If there is anything I feel the original collection has over this set is the reproduced Carl Barks Paintings on the inside covers and the wonderful essays. There were informative dissertations about Carl Barks use of archeology by Historians, the style of his art that influenced other Disney artists, Essays on Barks by by people like Will Eisner (not Michael Eisner) and George Lucas fessing Up that He and Spielberg are Carl Barks fans. They were inspired by Uncle Scrooge , Donald Duck and the rest of the Duck comics. They took character archetypes and story elements from Donald and Scrooge and turned them into Indiana Jones. as it is I'm torn. I love the convenience and faithfulness of the new printings but I love the special features of the originals.

@@Monsterofthemyst Thanks! It just seems that it’s getting harder and harder to find any of the older sets for under $500 nowadays, and the color reproduction in the Fantagraphics editions is a huge benefit. As a fan from Europe, I’m happy with the convenience of these new editions. Shipping and importing the CBL volumes would only add to the steep prices, so if Fantagraphics has your approval then I’ll probably just carry on collecting them. Would be nice to have all the extensive essays from the CBL volumes released in a separate collection, but I like how Fantagraphics includes commentaries for almost every story, brief though they might be.

I've been collecting these and I only need three more sets: 5, 7 and 10. Are those ones particularly rare? The reason I ask is twofold: First, 7 and 10 don't seem to show up very often (certainly not as often as 1, 3 and 8, which always flood my searches), and I haven't even seen 5 yet. Second, the only times they do pop up, they go for much, much higher prices than any of the other sets cost me, no matter what condition they're in. Is it normal for Sets 7 and 10 to be so expensive? I want to get Set 10 from one of the listings I've found, but I know I'll be kicking myself if I spend that much now only to see another copy show up later for much less. Also, do you have any tips on where to look?

I found certain sets to be rarer than others as well. I look at ebay, Amazon, Booksamillion there must be other sites too. The prices for certain sets are a bit higher than the other sets. My suggestion is to set a reasonable maximum bid price. For me, my maximum spending price per volume wasn't a penny higher than $500.00

Some Volumes are available through Amazon, I obtained most of my collection of Barks through eBay. I refused to spend a penny more than $500 per volume though. The comic stories are black and white images, a few of the comics are in color. in volume 9 is an image with Barks and Spielberg. Spielberg based Indiana Jones off of Uncle Scrooge's comic books alongside Lucas. (you probably know that though.)
