Carl Craig meets Matthew Dear.
Sometimes you have to trash preconceived ideas and let the moment dictate the result. This is the case in this very open and candid conversation between Detroit Legends Carl Craig and Matthew Dear on Slices Uncut for Electronic Beats TV. We met the two before their scheduled gig in Ibiza for Craig’s Detroit Love series, and as they sat down and began chatting we felt no need to interject. We let them roll on as they please, covering topics that range from studio construction to music production and the perspective required when releasing music. It's a truly special conversation that we hope you'll enjoy.

Peaks 808 kick is digital though. Goes to show it's not THAT much about the sound as it is about the process, feeling or whatever you want to call it.

Absolutely! I've got one of their modules and wouldn't mind getting half the range probably. It's a great example of using technology to inspire experimentation, taking new paths, instead of just using it to make everything easier and faster.

Have to disagree, I think it sounds great. Also, I wasn't going for a "get the real thing" comment here. Just wanted to say how an instrument that does a certain thing and nothing else "feels" better than a computer with infinite possibilities (while the sound quality is pretty much the same).

Great conversation. They're both so diplomatic. I feel they were just taking a long time to say things that most straight shooters would say right away - i.e. that EDM is commercial bullshit. Nevertheless, great stuff.

No offence, BUT - stick to your Boxing videos, lolz. :P (You have to remember...this is the WORLD in which they LIVE. Eat, breathe, sleep, shit and are fed many of those EDM fans hands as well. Straight shooting - HELL; these brothers were ultra long distance TWO TEAM SNIPING bruv on every topic they touched.
